He had plenty of chances here but did not take advantage of his opportunities. Hopefully he moves to a10 level and dominates.

But he’s not a star. He doesn’t have that kind of ability.

He’d get the same 16-19 minutes he’s gotten over the past few years.

Well maybe dropping a level he can be a start. He has the skills and just needs the confidence of being the guy on a team.
 
This is a painful one even if expected. Reality is we couldn’t go into the season with him as a starter and this is his last chance to get starter’s minutes. While he never fully put it together here, he turned into a warrior for us that played some incredibly meaningful minutes, especially defensively, when we were struggling in certain matchups. Can’t wait to see what he can do with a larger role. Good luck!

This one hurts. Every year we says it’s his year. I hope this year truly is HIS YEAR.

I wish he would stay but want him to dominate wherever that is

Sad to hear this but totally understand the decision. Gave us 3 years and came back from injury to help us get to the championship when so many players in his position in the portal would have left the team after sustaining an injury in season. Didn't enter the portal right away either, most likely had a hard felt goodbye with his teammates and coaching staff.
 
Jaylin will always be a first class Husky in my eyes. I rooted for him hard after he took over a few games his freshman yr & for a half a couple games, I thought he was the best player on the floor. He played big and even held down the center position at one point when the bigs were in foul trouble. I was thinking he might have a Kevin Freeman like trajectory. The injury this yr robbed him of a spectacular finish. I hope he does great next year.

Hate to see him go...but as a senior he needs to be a 30 minute starter guy (last chance to put numbers up) and not happening at UConn. I hope he has a monster senior year somewhere and proves UConn wrong. Husky for life Jaylin!

Definitely a tough one to see but understandable and not surprising. Best of luck to him. I wonder if he would have left last year if Karaban's timeline didn't handcuff him.

Stewart looks the part but never found consistency. There was no shortage of opportunities. Maybe if he goes somewhere with a reliable 25-30 mpg he'll get into a groove and be a nice player. I'm not expecting a huge breakout for him next year but we'll see.

Also, reading the tea leaves, I am assuming this is a good sign re: Khamenia and hoping it's good news on Mullins. Of course it makes our front court thinner especially with Freeman out of the picture. Still plenty of work to do in the portal.

Would love it for both parties if he can play for Holloway.

Really like the idea of Holloway being a place for former talented highly ranked recruits go to for opportunity and to get coached hard.
 
Stewart is one of the very few transfers out of the program that isn't dead to me and I do consider a husky for life. Great kid, great teammate, and great Ambassador for the program who gave the program three solid years. I doubt he's chasing a bag and just wants the chance start somewhere before his college career is over, can't really blame him for that. If he had been the one to break out this year instead of Ross, Stewart would probably be staying and Ross would be transferring, and I would feel the same way about him.

He has some ball skills too which he showed in flashes. He also shot the ball pretty good from 3. He has all the tools to be a star in the right system if he has the confidence.
 
Everyone has said it. Totally understandable move. This is one of those situations where I'm glad the transfer rules changed to not having to sit for a year. It just never fully clicked for Jaylin. Maybe it will somewhere else. Good luck, and as long as he doesn't transfer to one of a few Big East teams I'll be tracking and rooting for him.

I don’t think Stew had confidence issues as much as he just needs to be a consistent part of an offense.

He has the ability to be a top scoring option but it takes time to get comfortable with that. And with our mindset of winning championships every year we don’t have much patience for someone to grow into a role.

I thought he also deferred too much when on the floor especially this year. I wish he had a little bit more Mullins in his mindset.
