Jaylin Stewart in Portal

This sucks. I truly despise this portal era of college basketball. Really wanted to see Stewart & Solo honored on Senior Night next year.

One of my faves. Always a positive and enthusiastic teammate no matter how many minutes he was playing.

Husky nation will miss you!

I respect his decision as its clear for the reason. Seems like a great kid and will root for him as everyone said he will always be a Husky.

My daughter was saying the other month that JStew looks like a basketball player and moves like one. She was commenting how some others dont look the part. JStew will not be forgotten here.

Disappointed but I don't blame him, if I was his family I would have advised him to bounce last season when AK came back. I'll be rooting for him and watching next season, pick a spot where you have a runway to minutes and be involved in the offense.
Karaban didn’t decide to come back until the very very last minute. Portal was closed at that point.

Think if he knew Karaban was coming back he may have left. Conspiracy brain says that Hurley tried to start him whenever possible because of that too.

Will be interesting to see if he ends up with Luke in Boston. Could be a centerpiece in helping him launch a new regime and get one or two more shots at Duke for his senior year

Yeah. The portal era has been terrible for UConn basketball (terrible meaning only our best 4 year stretch in program history).

tbh with the season AK had shooting all of those tour dates during the conference season I would have expected him back, that had to have damaged his NBA stock

Honestly, I was going to feel bad for him if he returned. I think he's got the talent to put up numbers but he needs the PT to do it. He was never going to get it here.

Great kid and I've NEVER wished better things for a player entering the portal.

Posted this in the other thread but really belongs here. Good luck to Stew and his family

Click on the tweet to read more. If a player is going to transfer then this is how you want them to go out. As I said, I can't really blame Stewart. Most players are not going to stay at one place for 4 years any more. Have to get used to it.

I wished he would have come back - I know he’s worried about playing time, but there would have been enough for him.

Good kid - will follow him at his next stop.
Where? Backing up Khamenia. We're going to have 3 SF's. Excited for the kid to go be a star somewhere and not a bit player.

If ever the tweet tipping off that Mullins is back......

This sucks because I absolutely love this kid, but if I was advising him I would encourage him to leave and maximize a pay day your senior year.

Forever a champion, forever one of our huskies, best of luck champ

I would think that there were plenty of minutes available, and also the competition to start at the 4, if we are only bringing in Khamenia. Karaban had to be replaced, not sure why he left.

He will go West Coast

This sucks. Good luck Jaylin. Will be rooting for you always. No Khamenia, no Freeman, no Jaylin, no Braylon… it’s a bummer until it’s not again.

Not surprised, especially given the forwards Hurley is chasing

Chase your dreams Stewart. Thank you for choosing UCONN and hoping your dreams come true

Same sentiment as everyone else here. He deserves a chance to shine, maybe Murray will get some of the band back together at BC, and Stewart can be a big time player for him. It would be kind of cool if Stewart, Furphy, and some others end up there to play for Luke and do well.

In light of this news I’d say it’s unlikely we’re getting any additional news today and perhaps not even this weekend. Jaylin deserves a day or two alone in the spotlight.

Damn. Sometimes we are too "well, business is business" and that often means you have to ignore the heart. This one hurts. I dont ever want to see a guy, who loves the same thing I love, have to leave that.

I can still root for UConn's success but at the same time say loudly how much this sucks.

This sucks. Good luck my man
