Lyle has spoken with Indiana's Tom Crean and Connecticut's Kevin Ollie since announcing his decommitment. Memphis, Arizona, Baylor and Kansas have also expressed interest.

Lyle, who said he may need until January or February to decide, indicated there is one school he'd have a difficult time turning down.
"It would probably be Kansas," Lyle said. "I like them a lot, and me and [assistant] coach [Jerrance] Howard had a relationship at Illinois and also when he was at SMU."

I wouldn't be too hopeful, though obviously it would be nice.
 
Neither Lyle nor Snider liked the competition ahead of them. Turns out watching the new guys made them come to is what we figure. Snider may have jumped too soon and may or may not be regretting his earlier decision. Lyle is a pure disappointment to UofL fans and just may be a head case a la your Purvis, lol - who was a devoted and loudly happy verbal to Louisville once himself.

Pitino works your ass out. He expects you not just to go to class but to act like you are in college to get a degree. The team shows both things and have an NC to show for their efforts with 6 guys coming back. No one plays harder - some guys don't like it as it comes closer to reality and some actually do. Montrez Harrell, Siva, Dieng, Russ Smith all thrived under all that. Others might not.

Trust me, Louisville is not crying. Truth is, we were ridiculously guard-heavy.

Your next big adjustment will be your program going through what UConn went through the past three seasons. When will RP retire will be the question people will be asking in a few years. He turns 61 today. Of course Boeheim will be 69 this November. Has to make more than one Cuse fan a little nervous.
 
True that, fleuds. But Louisville has gone from a coach who should have been a HOF coach - Peck Hickman - to HOF Crum to HOF Pitino at the coaching reins for 70 years. (with a 3 year outlier when Dromo had his heart attack and left Denny with a Final Four team in his first year). Louisville fans are almost sanguine about coaches. The choices have worked happily for 70 years.

I expect Rick to surprise everyone and quit any time from the next 3 years to the next 10, lol. He has said he would quit when he couldn't be on the court for practices and he greets everyone at his infamous 6:30 practices. He just discovered Pit Bull - he gots new juice. Personally, I think this year may be his best-ever team at Louisville. Dude's on a real roll right now.

Louisville is doing great things, but on the other hand, these kids BARELY ever go to class in the Spring. They are just not there. And the kids who are leaving early for the pros and also the seniors take off after the tourney and head to Phoenix for NBA camp. They play 8 or 9 away games in January and February, then go to the conference tournament in early March (which doesn't always coincide with Spring Break) then head to the NCAAs (one week does coincide with Spring Break). Basketball players have it bad. They just never go to class. I'm not blaming the kids.

It's an online world. They study on the road and are monitored doing so. I believe it is one of the reasons for the recent surge in GPA scores at Louisville - the online part. Fact is, they are in better touch than the average student. Siva graduated on time with an excellent GPA, got drafted then went out and got married finally to his heart throb of 3 years. Smith, Van Treese, Hancock all will graduate this year and Blackshear was last year's winner of the best GPA @ the Final Four. Even Behanen, lol, seems to be getting it done, which is remarkable.

What Rick has done A UofL has been forming a team in the most essential sense of the word. These guys hang out together, attend women's sports, relish their standing in the community and do things pretty well right, most of the time. Pitino is a dictator on the court and even tries managing their outer activities, except Siva and a few guys like Smith told him in no uncertain terms to back off a bit. He accepted it and now he advocates they all have gf's, lol, so he;ll know where the hell they are at night. But it's a tight group - and therefore an excellent basketball formula.

I'm sorry - I edited a bit of my prior post........

Hey, chances are you know better than I. Louisville feels - at the Presidential level - that it has a mission. The AD and head Coach try and embody what President Ramsey insists on - and Prez Schumaker before him - which was to change the mission from a commuter school to a more research and academically-oriented on and elevate the program and univeristy into a higher academic status - which included sports. They mean business, if you listen to them talk - and that has maintained for years, very consistently.

As an example, Coach Strong in football laid on the Hammer of God over the heads of the players he first encountered there. Grades were a mess as was attendance and the rest as the Kragthorpe Era's overall apathy showed itself on close inspection. Now their grades tend towards the legit, to say the least.
 
Usually enjoy Senore's posts but there is just too much ra ra Louisville does everything right here for my taste. He's very good on the court but this is the same Rick Pitino who had his best friends wife bent over a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.

How have Snider and Lyle been able to watch the new guys?

Purvis isn't a head case, he had serious pressure to stay home, he did, it didn't work out. That's just bs to call him and Lyle headcases bc they decommitted from UL and serious sour grapes. It's also ironic considering you are applauding Harrell who was signed with VT and I'm sure love your GMU transfer.

Considering your posting history I imagine you didn't mean it the way it came out.

They all talk a good game. I am exempting no one from that criticism.

What they should do is allow the players to take the Spring off, but that would mess with federal requirements for scholarship funding.... So, they should instead just pay them an equal amount. Sure, no one would ever graduate but... better than the current farce.
 
We all pretty much like Lville here- pretty much think Uk is scum. I think senoir is not throwing smack- he just is stating the facts-Lville is NC and maybe has their best team ever this year. I am a believer that Siva meant more to that team then they will realize- so I would put Lville in the top 5 but not #1. Any UCONN fans here OK with winning a NC and coming out of the gate in the top 5? Crow away.
 
I was actually serious. The players have been playing all Summer at the Student Union Building. If Quinton or Lyle never watched, then I would be totally surprised. Snider saw Lyle recruited over him as a threat - and Lyle said virtually the same thing, as quoted in here. They were both concerned about playing time. Pitino wasn't - we weren't - but they were.

The rest of your post means what, exactly? It has absolutely nothing to do with much of anything. Hell yes we are thrilled with Harrell and Luke. I did not call either one of these kids head cases. I said they were worried, looking at Rozier, Gill, Jones, Ware for 15 and possibly Rozier and Gill for 16. You just ranted on about the other on your own.

Do I think they are head cases now? maybe, sure. Lyle seems to be whoring for visits and lobbying Kansas to take he and his new bff. The train has left for us anyway. Hell with each of them. Anyone callous enough to decommit the night before the UK football game inspires a mess of reactions, none of which will ever be retrievable.

The thing with Purvis, lol - ask him. He was committed to us for long months, taking huge Twitter time to reassure our more nervous posters he was totally there for Louisville. You may have missed all that and I hope he puts it together, but he also earned some legitimate rancor down here.

Senore, you suggested that Purvis and Lyle are head cases so he brought up 2 of your players who were committed to other schools and now play for Louisville. You say of course you don't think of them as head cases, well that seems a bit ridiculous considering you are accusing two other players of being head cases when they did the same thing. No clue why that is hard for you to follow. Sucks for UConn we have a head case on our team and we have another head case on our campus this weekend who is whoring himself out.

You said of course you don't think of the Louisville players as head cases while the other two players are. Are the Louisville players not head cases because they play for the team you root for and Purvis and Lyle are head cases because they chose not to play for the school you root for? But Purvis has proven not to be a head case by choosing UConn and Lyle can save his rep with a decision during the Michigan game.........;)

The way Senore characterized UL and the culture of the basketball team is very much the way we see Ollie developing his program (minus the restaurant extracurriculars). Ever since UL joined the Big East, Pitino has put an extremely well coached team on the court. They play hard every second and are disciplined as well. I find his manner to be pretty arrogant, but he is damn good and most would describe Calhoun in similar terms (just not so slick). Maybe Pitino is doing a lot of things right in addition to winning. Is that right that he is only 61? If so, watch out what they could do over the next decade with the way they have been recruiting.
