Kayleigh Heckel (2024 | Long Island Lutheran, N.Y.)


Heckel could only recall a few offers from memory, the likes of which included Ohio State, Rutgers, Princeton, and Columbia. She has also received interest from Stanford, Arizona, UConn, and South Carolina, but no offers have been made yet.

The point guard is academically driven and she wants a school that will challenge her in the classroom just as much as the hardwood. Heckel also values family and wants a team with a “family feeling.”


“If I am going to be away from my home,” Heckel said. “I want to have my other family with me where I am.”

Her list of college offers is piling up. Arizona, Michigan State, Arizona State, Maryland, DePaul and Wake Forest are among the list of Power 5 programs she listed who have offered her. She’s visited Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and most of the North Carolina schools and will plan her other visits after the high school season.


“Every school’s nice, every team has something to offer, so I it’s going to be a tough choice whenever I do make the choice, but it’s exciting,” Walker said.


Walker, a 5-10 point guard from Fulton, Md., was Game MVP of her team’s win over Penn Charter on Sunday, pouring in a team-high 21 points. College coaches love the poise she brings to the floor at the point, never getting too high or low, and the fast pace she can play at, which will translate to the next level.


She said her defense, including some of the overlooked things like taking charges, is also one of the major assets she brings to the court.

In her last three games Bella Hines ('25) has averaged 26 points but that's on 33% shooting, (5-21) 24% from three, with 3 assists, and 22 turnovers.
 
Frosh now....class of 2026: Might be a pretty decent recruiting start for that year if UConn
could nab Olivia Vukosa and Jennica Lewis.
Olivia from Christ The King...some all-timers from there came to Storrs...and Jennica [from Iowa] declared
a couple of years ago that UConn was her dream school...Olivia a big...Jennica a point.

Time for Ines to go to work on recruitment! Clara Sofia Vieitas Ferreira Da Silva was born on.
May 31, 2006. so, this May she will be 17 you. That sounds like the equivalent of an American
H.S. Junior. I believe that she had 21 points in a game against Luxembourg in the U 16
tournament a year ago? Portugal winning 79 -51. I will have to check. The Portuguese
team also beat Ireland 76 - 65? The bigger tournament was the U 16 European Championships
when Portugal beat Hungary, CZE, and Lativa (note Raina Tomasicka who is 5 '11" and was born
in 2005 plays for one of the Latvian teams, but that must have been the FIBA U 18 tournament)
Portugal was beaten by France and lost also to Croatia. . This last FIBA tournament was August
21, 2022 to August 27, 2022. You may be able see some of these games if you search the WEB.
Try FIBA U 16 European Champsionship, 2022. Good luck. Come to Storrs Clara!

Jenica can play the 2 or 3 in UConns offense. Point guard if and when needed. She is more of a shooter and admitted she needs work on her ball handling.

Somehow I missed Shane Laflin's October rising prospect article on ESPN and it wasn't mentioned here.

He confirms in it that Sarah Strong has a UConn offer.

He has blurbs on Strong, Justice Carlton, and Keeley Parks.

He did? For 2024? I guess he's talking about Shade and Arnold.

Unless he was including Brady. Maybe Brady and Shade.
