Mick to Pitt?

I never liked Pitt. I hope they don't luck out and land Sean Miller. It's his alma mater after all so you never know.

Better that the ACC suffer Pitt than the rest of us suffer Arizona.

.-.
Wow.

I hope Pitt can get someone good. I actually feel bad for their fans. They've had a tough run in the NCAA tournament. Maybe the worst NCAA tournament team in the country.

If Young or Jeter wants to transfer for their last year of eligibility, I hope we go after them. Both would give us a great Shonn Miller replacement.

I'd be surprised if Miller left Arizona but who knows, seeing how this Dixon move is a step down to go to an alma mater maybe Miller will complete the cycle.

Granted they didn't fire Dixon, I hope this is Al Skinner/BC all over again and Pitt becomes a laughing stock of the ACC. I will continue to be bitter about us not getting into a P5 conference and will hate on those who did lol.

.-.
I wonder what Dixon's reaction will be if UConn joins the XII in the next year or two? Basically relegates TCU to second tier status, which is an upgrade over where they currently are in the XII, just like Pitt was in the old Big E and the ACC.

When you're not wanted anymore.

Will be interesting if someone can do better at Pitt than Dixon. Will this be another NC State situation when they let Sendek go?

Apparently you are unaware of the events around the BE breakup.

Hard to know what to make of Dixon. He kept them at a high level post-Howland for a while, even though it never translated in the tournament, but the past few years they were pretty anonymous.

He is in a no-win position. The Toads will never be any good in hoops. Too much to overcome.

Dixon got out of town before the crowd with the pitch folks and torches got to his door.

Crazy to see all the old Big East to ACC teams imploding on themselves. Almost glad we didn't follow them.
Louisville scandal
Syracuse scandal(s)
Boston College 0-500
Pittsburgh running coach out of town.
Amazing.

Uhhhh Villanova, Syracuse and Notre Dame are all currently still in the NCAA tournament. Although we won a national championship after our exile from the Big East, I'm pretty sure that I'd rather be in their position than ours (conference wise).

Interesting. I'd obviously much rather be in a better conference situation than we are now, but not if it meant giving up one of our National Championships--especially not the 2014 one, which was so important to keep up among the elite in terms of perception once Calhoun retired.

I assume we let Kansas win the other day in exchange for an invite to their conference?

Pitt is a tough basketball coaching situation. In the Big East, they were an upper echelon program, but they are a middle of the pack program in the ACC now. Think about it, they are definitely behind Duke, UNC, Syracuse, and Louisville, and right now behind ND, UVA, and Miami. They are somewhere between the 6th to 11th best program in the ACC. Plus, they used to get many NY guys, but that pipeline seems to have dried up in recent years. I think it is going to be difficult to attract a top coach to replace Dixon.

I doubt it will be that difficult. ACC is the premiere basketball conference in the country right now and there's a chance it gets to SEC football status at some point. They earned 21 tournament units last year and will earn at least 19 this year.

One thing Dixon did get was some tough players who could mix it up. If he even gets them to the tourney for TCU it's a big deal, he's off the burner.
