Agreed; to a point. I do want to have some semblance and understanding of how out future stars supposedly stack up against their peers. They mean nothing in the long run, but I wouldn't totally disregard recruit rankings. It's nice to have a barometer, albeit a faulty one.
 
Considering that guys don't play better or worse because of their 247 ranking, this is all just vanity. I get it, and I'm the same way, but it's pointless to get upset about it.

Sure its fun when we get a recruit thats highly rated and its great that we get kids like that but it dont mean much at all until they preform and being highly touted doesnt guarantee jack. Just look at the class of `11 as a perfect example. Look at our roster this year compared to uk,duke,kansas and others. I get excited when the ball gets thrown up and the recruits start contributing.

How is the class of '11 a perfect example? That was a very highly-touted class, and they've delivered.

Pretty much every fan base thinks that the recruit guys hate them. Fact is, 247 is just a little lower on Jalen than the other sites. Rivals had him @26 and both Rivals and Scout saw Jalen go absolutely bananas in Vegas so I wouldn't be surprised if they both have him @ a 5 star. I don't think ESPN is at enough of these events to take seriously.

That's why the 247 composite provides the most balanced ranking.
 
I'll concede that players who are ranked in the Top 10 in their class generally turn out to be as good as advertised. But an online ranking list doesn't set the book on the level of productivity someone will have over the course of their college career. There's a reason two teams play the game out instead of simply averaging the star ratings of each team's roster...

Tell that to the analysts during the NCAA tournament. You would have thought UK's collective recruiting rankings would have suffocated the life out of UCONN prior to ever stepping on the court.

This kid is going to be scary good. One of our best "gets" ever. I cannot wait to see him on the court with DHam and AB.
 
I guess we can save our hard drive (or SSD) space now, of course links are cool. Let others drool/dream over and on his mixtapes.

@tcf15 will be serving us up the real thing in about a year or so. No hype just the real good 'live' sh|t.

That's the beauty when basketball dreams become reality here at UConn. :cool:

I'll take our results the last few years over the blabber of a few suits.
 
so who's coming off the bench? seems like an overload of guards, David Crisp is also supposed to be transferring there as well.

I like that they are going to have a deep backcourt. It'll get JA ready for playing in the deep backcourt KO is putting together.
 
trying to have the best backcourt in nepsac history or something? pretty confusing they must be playing 4 guards in crunch time
 
Don't know how I feel about this. I'd prefer Adams have the ball in his hands a lot in an unquestioned leadership role. Give him a couple scorers to pass to and let him steer the ship. On the other hand, practices will be ultra competitive.

Why? You think he's going to need to step in steer the ship at UCONN from day 1? Because I certainly hope not. Forget what could possibly reside in the frontcourt when he comes in, look at the backcourt alone.

For starters, Purvis or Hamilton, if not both, should still be here, there's scoring burden off his shoulders. Samuel and Cassell Jr will be here to help with the ball handling, not to mention more scoring, particularly with Cassell. Then you add what a healthy Omar Calhoun can potentially bring in all areas, not to mention the leadership he'll bring regardless. On top of that there is a chance we add another guard/wing to come in with him. I think having him used to playing in a rotation at a variety of backcourt positions is super beneficial for us because I think that's exactly what KO asks of all his guards.

So that his game develops more. Being off the ball and sharing touches, especially in big games or in crunch time, is less effective for his growth than having the ball in his hands making plays (and making mistakes and learning from them).

And yes, I want him to be prepared to steer the ship from day one. Even if he doesn't have to and does an apprenticeship like Kemba and Bazz did. Better to be ready and not needed than needed and not ready.
