Jalen Adams (Committed to UConn)

“Connecticut has recruited him the hardest and longest, they’re close and they have a national championship,” Pastore said. “I wouldn’t say UConn is the leader but UConn is strong enough not to call Kansas the leader. Shabazz Napier is a Boston kid and so is Jalen. There are a lot of reasons why UConn is a nice fit for him. There’s a lot of reasons why they aren’t.”

Correction: We have four national championships.

Honestly, the thoughts that come out of some of your heads are just so painful to read.

Did Adams say that he's reticent to come to UConn because of the competition?

If the answer is no, then STFU.

I can deal with losing Govan, but if UConn misses Adams, there'll be a tantrum.

For those who are new to the Boneyard:

Fishy Tantrum = Lock your doors, there will be many here who get their throats punched in!

He's been in a snit for about a month. So Tantrum away say I; if a good tantrum doesn't restore his normally sunny disposition;
then we may be looking at a Fishy Event. Believe me no good will come of that except maybe for Sunshine Cleaning.

He just received an offer from Louisville, so their site featured an article on him with some quotes from his AAU coach, Vin Pastore and there were some quotes regarding UConn:

“Connecticut has recruited him the hardest and longest, they’re close and they have a national championship,” Pastore said. “I wouldn’t say UConn is the leader but UConn is strong enough not to call Kansas the leader. Shabazz Napier is a Boston kid and so is Jalen. There are a lot of reasons why UConn is a nice fit for him. There’s a lot of reasons why they aren’t.”

There are two main reasons why UConn may not be a fit for Adams — William Jackson and Prince Ali, a pair of 2015 guards already committed to Kevin Ollie’s Huskies.

“UConn has already two commitments in his class, Prince Ali and [William Jackson],” Pastore said. “I think he has to learn more about Kansas. He’s never been there. I think he’s about as good a guard as there is in the country. Having said that he still doesn’t want to go into an overloaded situation.”

Doesn't necessarily sound great.
Love the way somebody else speaks for a kid... smh....

.-.
There will also be a logjam of guards at Kansas. They have K. Oubre now and then more. Whoever commits first to Uconn should be rewarded and not recruited over. I think KO is happy with what we already got for 2015. Just doing his due diligence in case someone else suddenly withdraws.

Screw that. Never sit on your laurels. Collect as much talent as you can and let them hash out minutes on the court. no need to pander to anybody.

1) Connecticut plays a very guard dominated offensive system that prepares our backcourt for the next level. If Adams is smart and getting good advice, he'll give that considerable weight in making his decision.

2) After watching our backcourt defense destroy supposed better teams, I think you need some very compelling reason to go elsewhere.

3) Kevin Ollie is a pretty cool guy to play for - young, charismatic, focused and successful.

We'll see what Adams decides.

IMO the guys who shy away from competition have the NBA on their mind more than UConn. Not saying that's necessarily bad.

Just because Jalen Adams has a better produced mixtape than Turtle Jackson doesn't make him any better. I think Turtle might even be ranked higher but I could be wrong. Regardless, if Jalen Adams doesn't commit because of Turtle Jackson, then that says that Turtle's game is strong enough to deter a player like Jalen. Which means Turtle is pretty damn good. I will be satisfied no matter what.

PS: I have watched Turtle's videos, all which are at least a year old, and he possess all the same skills that Jalen has and in fact looks even quicker. The video production is terrible though. And sadly that makes a huge difference in player perception to the average viewer.

What are you talking about?
not every guard we recruit has the heart of boatright. Or is as good, we don't know anything about Adams other then that it sounds like he dosnt want competition

I know a lot of people think we in a good spot with Adams and I think he wants to come, but there is a huge log jam at guard. The longer his recruitment continues and the more schools he learns about means trouble for UConn. He is my number one want, but I do not think he comes here.
None of those guards are pure PGs with the possible exception of Sam Jr. Still, we have a lot of guards already.

It sounds like he doesn't like competition because somebody else, speaking on his behalf, hinted that he might want to go somewhere where he can play right away? That's quite the stretch.

You do realize that just about every recruit asks these same questions, right? The fact that he'd rather be guaranteed minutes as a freshman isn't an indictment on his mentality or competitive fire.

"Best man gets the spot". Jalen knows the deal

That why I said it "sounds like," these words did not come out of his mouth, however his coach would know him very well. I'll be excited if he joins the huskys but I hope he isn't scared of some competition, that's all.

How is he supposed to know that? Because Ollie tells him that? Because he is ranked higher by a website? Still he will have 4 or 5 more bodies he has to compete with, when he can go to another great program and not have to deal with that. It is easy for everyone here to say hes the best, if he has the killer attitude we want he should see that and commit. It is completely different when it is your future on the line.
Because they all play against each other all summer.

I hate how modern-day interviewers ask a question but continue to lead that question into an answer for the interviewee to pretty much have but one answer. One that the interviewer kind of answered in the question.

"So, who do you see as your biggest competition...is it like, Tyler Goings? Or Brett Washington? Who do you like to see on the other side of the court playing against you? Like, when the game is on the line who do you want to show up? Washington? Or David Kirk? Who is it?"
