Yeah, there really isn't much of that going on - you need 3-4 years to develop someone that raw. It's a two year sport right now. Hopefully he takes some of what he learned at UConn and flourishes. It's so hard to develop players in this environment.
Nobody's fault. It just is what it is.
Think that’s what he meant - for the deepHe isn't adding any other high school kids for next season unless it's for a practice player.
I think Furphy will. He played 34 minutes all year and so far we haven't seen anyone in front of him move onI wonder how many of these guys will actually end up in a better situation.
I am probably one of them. He's very talented. Not surprising but it is humorous how there were some posters before 2025 season started on here that stated Furphy would get playing time this year and would be a future star.
Wish the kid best of luck, but where are you getting this from? I didn’t see anything that makes him a steal lolHe’s a steal in the portal. If he hits a Mid major for a year, he could be a big portal piece next season if he wanted to go that route.
I always thought he would get real playing time his junior year. Not sure that is a victory lap. Just being realistic. Unfortunately in today’s college basketball unless you are a 5 star/OAD you should probably go to a lower level school and then transfer up.More humorous to see someone taking a victory lap to seemingly congratulate himself on a player transferring.
Better team, I agree. More minutes, I think 4/4. They'll all play more at a lower levelMy prediction on the players who have entered the portal so far - 0/4.
Correct, at this point if we do get 5 back it means we'll keep 3 of Solo, Braylon, Jaylin, and Jacob RossI think there are only 5 left, right? Silas, Solo, Braylon, Ross, Stew
With Furphy gone and the two Euros hitting the portal, who is even left? Jacob Ross?
Only one think made a mistake was ReibeBetter team, I agree. More minutes, I think 4/4. They'll all play more at a lower level
Was hoping he would stay, he looked like a real player in the U19 tourney. Can't believe I watched all those Germany and Australia games for nothing.
He looked great in that summer world championship tournament. I think the injury at the start of season derailed his chance. Had he been healthy when Braylen missed those games at the start he might have had a chance to prove he deserved time. UConn also had 9 pretty solid players this year. It was a tough rotation to crack.More humorous to see someone taking a victory lap to seemingly congratulate himself on a player transferring.
I find myself caring increasingly less about individual players who have only been here a year and portal out. Particularly those who haven't materially contributed.Figured. Nobody is patient any more. Nothing surprises me with roster additions and losses these days. I wish him luck.
The playing time didn't happen, but the future star is unknowable. I wouldn't assume he can't beNot surprising but it is humorous how there were some posters before 2025 season started on here that stated Furphy would get playing time this year and would be a future star.
Realistically you're not going to be able to go more than 8 deep for anyone worth a nickel. One will be a backup 5, another a backup PG and then the other a backup 2/3. Anything past that will be the Millender & Koroma's of the world or an experiment (Furphy & the Euros), which don't seem to work.Yeah it was going to be hard to find minutes next year. Kind of is what it is.
If we want kids to stay we’ll have to have a serious plan to use them. No kid wants to sit for a year or 2 hoping to eventually develop enough to play.
So the only alternative then is 4 additional portal practice players in addition to the 3 we need (C, PF, and backup PG).He isn't adding any other high school kids for next season unless it's for a practice player.
We had 9 new players this season. Three of them were freshmen. Two freshmen (Mullins, Reibe) along with two new portal players (Silas, Malachi) were the only ones in the regular rotation. So the only alternative then is 4 additional portal practice players in addition to the 3 we need (C, PF, and backup PG).
I can’t see us not adding some experience at ball handlerI think County might be our backup if we don't pick up anyone else.
