Jacob Furphy to the portal

No surprise. Maybe this means Mullins is staying because I think Hurley said he believes 5 are coming back.

We barely knew him but he didn't look athletic enough to compete at this level from what we saw. That and he probably wasn't promised much time. Maybe a good indication others are coming back.

He had an injury coming in so could not do much in practices to rise to a rotation player.

Was hoping to see him do what he did in U19 but guess he is headed elewhere.

Figured. Nobody is patient any more. Nothing surprises me with roster additions and losses these days. I wish him luck.
There just aren't any minutes for him next season so he's looking at not playing his first two seasons of college basketball. Of course UConn will be bringing in more ultra high level players the next season so he runs the same risk of not playing as an upperclassman.

It makes too much sense for him to go somewhere he knows he will play and make some money while doing it.

Good luck to Furph!

My friend's son is going to be bummed. He was his Final Four ticket connection.

Said there is a possibility of him going back home.

I’m guessing Hurley trying to bring in another veteran backup pg. No idea if he could have handled backup duties but Hurley definitely values experience there

Is what it is, best of luck!

I think County might be our backup if we don't pick up anyone else.

Regardless of what happens, Hurley is not finished recruiting High School kids at this point, because they'll need a full 13 or 14 for practice, and we're down 4 or 5 kids in the portal, another 5 graduated and are moving on. 15 players - 10 + 2 or 3 portal additions + 2 HS commits. That gives us 10. Will need to add high school kids and a couple portal seniors for bench roles.

I heard he was good from someone associated with the team this season. We will see how his career plays out. Hurley (and most other coaches) just aren't going to play more than 8 or 9 guys. This game is only 40 minutes and there are countless breaks.

He isn't adding any other high school kids for next season unless it's for a practice player.
