Now I can finally make Blanca's name "official. (redshirt years are not assumed, just listed as placeholders)

For what it's worth (this is almost certain to be ignored…) her
official and ordinary name is Blanca Quiñónez.
It is not Quiñonez.

In her Ecuatorian Spanish, the pronunciation is close to

Keen YONE ace.

There is a pic of her with Paige, Jana and Sarah in her recruiting thread. She appears to be the same height as Sarah, who is listed at 6'2".

Geno said he wants the roster to be more athletic. This is a giant step in that direction, as is obvious to anyone who has seen any footage of her games in Europe. WNBA is in her future - hopefully her distant future!

Perhaps there is an analogous situation of someone coming to play WCBB after succeeding at such a high level against professionals overseas, but I am not aware of it.

The lineup possibilities will be something to talk about!

Blanca is the most important addition to UConn WBB since Paige.

You heard it here first…….;)
Uhh ohh, isn't this where we first heard about Jana (and Sedonah Prince?)

Seriously, if she is 6'2" and rugged, she can pair with Sarah in a quick, skilled frontcourt. Meanwhile, Ice, Ayanna, Jana and Gandy can continue to develop.

Exciting news!

Blanca plays in a professional league right now. Her team, Campobasso, played Dorka’s team Schio, last month. Here are the leading performers from that game.

The flag by the player’s name show the player’s home country

Blanca is an incredible athletic and defensive add to our team. Along with Kelis and Gandy, both fairly athletic in their positions as well, next year’s class doesn’t look too shabby. We desperately need athleticism on the roster, and Geno went out and got us 3 recruits that fit the bill.

Out of all 3, Blanca looks the most ready for college ball, especially since she’s been playing in the pros.

Patience on Jana will be rewarded. I also was a strong supporter of Nika from day 1, when others questioned her value to UConn. Unlike Jana or Nika, I expect Blanca to be a star at UConn as soon as she gets here.

Well then, they should spell it like this and make it easier for us. ;)

More important than Sarah? I realize that Blanca appears to be more athletic, but Sarah is a better shooter and may read the game better. And then there are intangibles (including coachability, adaptability, grace under pressure) that cannot be discerned by watching highlight videos or even selective whole game footage.
