Can DHAM play the 4 at all? probably a totally niave question. But might he be an option for 10 min a game there?

AB
Dham
Purv
Tsam
Boat (SC Jr)

About as well as Rip would have played there. I don't think that's a realistic option. I think they need to find, for next season, one big (preferably a four) who can realistically contribute (Swift?) and a large body that can eat up some fouls at center.

Daniels still has splinters in his butt from riding the pine his freshman year, and he is two months away from hearing his name called by the NBA Commissioner. No program in the country improves its players as much as UConn does.
Dude, what's up with you? Someone slip you a happy pill?;)

I think that we are going to get introduced to Ollieball 2.0 a little bit sooner than expected. Look for spreading the floor and uptempo play with scorers at 4 of the 5 positions. Just a hunch.

In this sense, DD leaving will be better for our 2016 chances (and I think we're going to be better in 2016 than in 2015).

I hope Facey shows that he's a legit, high-major 4. Either way, we'll get to find out whether he's up for the challenge, or whether getting a stud 4 in the class of 2015 is a luxury or a necessity.
If Dham, Amida, and Purvis are all there in 2016 (nothing to suggest otherwise right now) 2016's team will be very very very good

One real concern with Facey is foul trouble. He led the team with 1.4 fouls every 5 minutes of playing time. Spread over 30 minutes that's 8.4 fouls. Needless to say he would be long gone before he reached the 30 minute mark. Number one project for the coaches this off season is Facey!!

Wouldn't count Purvis as someone who is sticking here for 2 years 100%. We will be much better in 2015 than 2016, mainly because the return of boatright; an unquestioned alpha dog.

I have to think that Daniels declaring makes it more likely that we land Melvin Swift. Has anyone heard any recent news on him?
We're not recruiting him. He just keeps listing us. With DD declaring, we're more likely to grab a 5th year transfer rather than go for another 2014 recruit.

Rhett went to Ole Miss. I agree it will be interesting to see what happens with potential 5th year transfers. My guess is we will roll with our current roster. If a player emerges as a good fit it could really help us with the departure of DeAndre.

Phil Nolan could give us good minutes at the 4 at times. He has very good quickness and did a great job overall playing against Payne. Nolan played ahead of both Facey and Brimah and I would not be surprised to see it start that way next year as well.

Wouldn't hurt if he worked on his handle as well.

Much like DD had to learn, Kenton needs to learn how to get from 20 feet to 12 feet with one dribble.

Face up at the 3-pt line, make one assertive dribble and get to the mid-range game.

If Kenton is our leading rebounder that means he's developed enough offense to earn 30 mpg.

Name me one Husky who has bulked up over a summer
Maybe some natural weight gain but that's it

Oh we will. His name is Terrance, and I think that in two years he can be our Aaron Craft

And, depending on Omar's ability to return to his old scoring ways...people seem to forget that Omar played over 30 minutes a game and averaged 11 and 4 as a freshman. I think he can work off whatever clearly bothered him most of this season and return to that line in fewer minutes, and set himself up for a great senior year.

Besides all of them, you mean? Almost every year we read about a player who has added 10-25 pounds of solid muscle over the summer. Solid muscle, not the other kind. Tyler a couple of years ago, Daniels last year.

Nolan made big steps on defense this year. I could see him sneakily developing some post moves and providing some production next year. However, short of Brimah/Nolan developing a go-to move to where we can dump it in the post and rely on points/foul shots, I do not see Nolan seeing much time in DD's old role.

I feel terrible that Omar was in such a confidence hole this year. Tough to watch. The problem with Omar is that if he is not putting the ball through the net, he literally brings nothing else to the table at a high level. In fact, he doesn't rebound/defend/handle at even an average level. I've never seen a 'guard' have such a propensity for really awful turnovers with the consistency that he does.

Really hope he gets the aim back, but as a shooter if your confidence goes, that is so hard to get back.

Hopefully Facey can bulk up enough to handle playing the 4. We're going to be extremely thin in that position specifically from a defense/ rebounding position.

I think we'll start the year:

PG - Boat
SG - Purvis
SF - Hamilton
PF - Facey
C - Nolan

Samuel, Omar getting big minutes in the backcourt. Then Brimah coming back from surgery and hopefully The Rock can contribute some toughness inside as well.

Would love to add a 5th year to give us another capable body inside as well.

Omar would be the perfect Rashad Anderson if he could get Rash's confidence and work ethic/enthusiasm (I admit he was a great teammate even while in a slump).

See the problem is that NO ONE has Rash's confidence. It is the most difficult trait to gain back. I do not think work ethic is a fair criticism. Calhoun is in GREAT Shape, clearly is a worker, got back from 2 hip surgeries in time for the season.

Really hope it works out for him.

Maybe it was the hip surgery he had in the summer, but I have full confidence in Omar bouncing back and actually taking that starting job at least in the beginning of the season from Hamilton.

I feel like Facey could be Lamarcus Aldridge like. They have very similar games IMO.
