He needs to bust ass this summer and come back to school in the fall as a man on a mission. He could be a rebounding machine if he bulks up some. Also showed some signs of an outside shot. He has a great opportunity in front of him. I hope he prepares extremely hard for it.

Is it safe to say that the 4 spot is his to lose at this point? Or am I forgetting someone? I'm assuming that we don't do twin towers with PN and AB

He probably wouldn't have seen more than 10 minutes a game next year if DeAndre had stayed, so this isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world. Looking forward to seeing if the great rebounding rate was a fluke.

"We have enough . Right here " Facey isn't DD this going to be collective , other guys have to chip in. Purvis really must live to the hype , which I'm 99% he will. Give us scoring and talent boost

Daniels still has splinters in his butt from riding the pine his freshman year, and he is two months away from hearing his name called by the NBA Commissioner. No program in the country improves its players as much as UConn does.

A line up with Purvis, TSam, DHam, Facey and Brimah really excites me. Boat would be icing on the cake, but I won't hold my breath.

I'd be willing to bet Ollie brings in a 5th year guy who can rebound and defend at the 4 position now that DeAndre's gone.

True. KO better act soon, a lot of the big name 5th year guys are getting scooped up pretty quickly.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. There was a thread a few weeks back with transfers eligible to play immediately. Someone with more time than me might want to dust that list off, and see which power forwards are still available that could contribute like Kromah did last year.

Unless KO thinks Facey is ready to step into major minutes in the starter's role at the 4, it makes sense to hedge bets with a transfer who would only take a scholarship for one year.

Facey spent the last year competing against Deandre in practice everyday and he rebounded at a very respectable rate in the minutes he did see. Playing a more prominent role this year will be great for his development and there's no reason to think he can't adequately fill the 4 slot for us this year.

In this sense, DD leaving will be better for our 2016 chances (and I think we're going to be better in 2016 than in 2015).

I hope Facey shows that he's a legit, high-major 4. Either way, we'll get to find out whether he's up for the challenge, or whether getting a stud 4 in the class of 2015 is a luxury or a necessity.

He doesn't need to bulk up per se but he does need to make sure every bit of his weight is lean muscle. The part of his rebounding that impressed me last season was how quickly he got off the ground.

He was picking up boards at the apex of his vertical while others were just getting off the ground.

Facey seemed to have a nice knack for being in the spot where missed shots ended up. It was a limited sample size but get a few pounds on this kid and let's carry on.

Will Leon stay now that there are some minutes to be had?

I'm a big Facey fan, I think he will be pretty good. He won't be Daniels and UConn will have to play a more traditional offense. The biggest question is Facey's defense and making sure he rotates properly. He is a jumping jack athlete. UConn may not be as skilled but it will be as, or more, athletic next year IMO.

Another thing to consider here. Keep in mind Jim Calhoun said he loved Facey's potential and thought he would be a great player here. Also, remember that Daniels barely played his freshman year, and we were worried about the 4 going into the 12-13 season. Not saying Facey is a lock to blow up next year, but who knows? He could.

He was also the guy KO & JC made as a priority at the 4 spot, not anything like a Plan B/fall back type option. I loved what I saw out of Facey in the few LI Lutheran games I got to watch, he's gonna be a stud in time.

I have to think that Daniels declaring makes it more likely that we land Melvin Swift. Has anyone heard any recent news on him?

I agree, defensive rotations were definitely his biggest weakness last year and that's the 1 area where he really has to improve to maximize his minutes next year. We can wait on his offense, but we need our interior D to be solid.

I'm excited for him and looking forward to watching him grow.
