It’s been long enough: no message from Mora

Coach Mora is a great leader and every UConn fan owes him a tremendous THANK YOU! He stopped the decent of the football program from bad to historically terrible to national laughingstock, leading us to two 9+ win seasons and bowl games. And he did it in 4 years. I put him on the Mt. Rushmore of UConn coaches.

That said, he stepped on it with his exit strategy. He should have sent a quick video thank you with a few comments about how much he loves UConn and will always be a Husky.

Keep it.

It represents a moment in time. And in that moment, the guy who signed the ball is the same guy who brought joy back to Mudville.

It doesn't mean we have to like what's happening today. But today is a lot better than it was a few years ago and that ball should still bring you a little joy...

We didn't get to see enough of Kathy either. This is from September

Was it appropriate for Jim to ghost UConn?
That's a different subject. I was talking about the time for him to do it. I don't think it's appropriate to do it when he's being introduced at CSU. I would give it another few days to play out.

The way you leave a place says a bunch about character.

CSU may have wanted him in a hurry but class and character should be non negotiable.
D’Amelio’s comments say a lot. I actually give him credit for not going harder at Mora. Let’s face it…Mora complained about NIL and D’Amelio helped him out. Mora succeeds from said NIL and he doesn’t even contact D’Amelio when he leaves.

If I was D’Amelio I would feel a bit used. I am sure he is just looking at it as a business transaction…but it doesn’t mean he isn’t personally annoyed.

We're a destination stepping stone program now so it is what is. So if a coach is coming here to move up another level then UConn is winning. Look what programs like Cincinnati, Memphis and BYU have done it's a process.

I'm waiting till Monday-Tuesday before I jump to conclusions on Mora's departure, I cut him some slack since it was a holiday week with the players being off this week.

He took the opportunity to write a whole page addressing CSU, he had the time to address us too.

there's been some other awkward moments during Mora's tenure that we kind of overlooked but he had some moments where he did show some local committment.

On the other hand, it does limit the amount of players he takes with him. money does talk in a lot of ways but leaving a sour taste doesn't help.

Look, if it were me I would release a boilerplate "thank you for" etc., etc., etc. I would give the players an hour of lead time to thank them for their work on my behalf.

Who knows.

He doesn't owe D'Amellio a call but I don't think D'Amellio suggests that he did either.

Edsall leaving the way he did was sour because of the all the hype that was talked about Edsall being a man of character and how he built up the program. Mora was always kind of a hired gun so I don't see this as bad, but I have no problem with people having a bit of a bad taste.

He didn’t need to say he loved UConn. Just a thank you for showing up and supporting his team would have been nice.

I decided to flip on the Air Force/Colorado St. game. The AD said Mora is not at the game and will be there on Sunday with a press conference on Monday. How is he not at the game to see and meet the players? Is he skiing?
Who cares?

Make an exact replica and mail it to JM's new office at Canvas Stadium. a nice touch would be smearing dog sheet over his name. I bet he'll get a chuckle out of it.

I don't get people who are giving him a pass. Jim Mora contacted David Benedict about the UConn. He wanted the job and he needed the job. He was great for the program and everyone wins. Maybe he needed to bone up on his geography knowledge if he didn't realize where Connecticut was in relation to Idaho before he committed to UConn. Or maybe he knew he was only going to be here 4 years. Whatever. He absolutely owed it to the players, the staff, the donors, and especially the fans to at least say something.

The upside is everyone knows about UConn and the Head Coach position, and what it has done for Jim Mora. This is a great opportunity for the right coach.

Yes, probably. And Fort Collins is only a quick private plane ride away from Sun Valley. If he doesn't own a plane I am sure that a booster can take him back and forth.
