Hilarious Mora burned all of his goodwill in a single day. He went from the king of CT and savior to UConn to not even giving us a proper goodbye. What a loser

My view

They’re in a conference, which we need to fix yesterday. This independence is just crap - you’re fighting an uphill battle on every front, and the hill gets steeper every year.

Support. The state of Ct is so backwards. Aside from some nice comments from the guv, the approach from the state is pathetic. And the school and its top donors are fixated on being Gonzaga.

The media. What can one say.

CSU is in PAC, has made a significant investment in football, and has publicly said they’ll be a top program.

UConn has never been invested in football. 15-20 years ago we shocked everyone, including the administration. Rather than take advantage of that, we threw it away. We will again.

Put down the pipe. We have a fat NIL budget for a G5. And we invested enough to help make Jim successful enough to get hired somewhere else. You’re another one that is literally always wrong.

Everyone crucified Edsall 1.0, and rightly so. Why is Mora getting a pass?

Could not agree more. Either there is more to the story or maybe his integrity isn’t what we’ve been told. The players and coaches essentially work their tails off for 12 months (and more) to get to a big bowl game—-and he walks out. Anyone who has played sports at a high level knows this is pure betrayal. How many time did we hear him say the word “brotherhood”. We all know that it was fake BS now.

Two things can be true. 1. He did a marvelous job rebuilding UConn. 2. Leaving before a bowl game when your team just won 9 games is a garbage move.

The truth with come out, but if there is an explanation for his timing, it might be the University did not hold its end of the promise for support. Who knows exactly what that promise was, but I think we will find out soon.

If he stayed for the bowl game, we'd be late in hiring a replacement and we'd get killed in the portal not knowing who was gonna coach us. Leaving right away is the professional thing to do... Edsall's circumstances were in a totally different environment.

We know he talked to Benedict before Benedict announced he was leaving... I believe they agreed staying for the bowl was not an option. I don't know that they agreed, but you don't know that they didn't.

I assume UConn agreed that he leave now. I think it’s the right move since Mora had already accepted the position with CSU. He’s not UConn’s coach and they can’t delay hiring a replacement for weeks in the portal era.
I do find it odd that Mora hasn’t issued a statement mentioning UConn yet. We’ll see if something gets released in the coming days. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coach thanked as a much by the fan base and others close to the university as Mora has this time. He certainly did a very good job here but, as others have says, the last 4 years were mutually beneficial to both UConn and Mora.

If this job is as good as everyone says it is and the school really is committed to the sport people should be excited about getting a new hire to continue the progress.

Instead people are getting all pearl clutching outraged and conspiratorial.

We invested in Jim Mora, paid him $2.5mm. Increased NIL, increasing the asst coaching pool and increased coaches and the admin team including adding new GM roles. Invested in new stadium lockers at the Rent and have new practice facilities in Storrs.

If UConn didnt invest in football, they’d still be 0-12!

Stop. This is D1 college football. Happens every year. Mora doesn't have distain for UConn or fanbase. Sure he has been very preoccupied with prospects of a new job and moving his family, etc, etc. So not weird.

Oh please. He's not preoccupied with prospects for a new job because he already has the job.

If you've never moved long distance maybe you think that's a big job but I can assure you no one in his family is packing any boxes or lifting a finger. CSU is paying and someone is doing it all.

As you said, it's D1, so if he's simply focused on which players he wants to poach and what staff to take with him that may have sapped the time necessary to issue a statement.

He was the right hire four years ago and changed the culture and the perception of the program so I'm disappointed to see him leave like Randy did.

Agree at least Edsall stayed and coached the Bowl game. Granted Fiesta Bowl was bigger than any Bowl we are going to this year but the silence is deafening.

In all fairness, it was completely different landscape when Edsall left. The timing is pretty par for the course with Mora and the current environment. This still feels like a slap on the face to the university, to students, the AD, to the players and to the fans.

I like what Sammis has done on offense, but personally I don't want him as HC. He's unproven and had quite possibly the best WR QB duo in the history of UConn football and one of the most stacked RB rooms we've had since Brown, Dixon and Todman.

Mora gave us a two year run that we couldn't imagine before he took the job. If he decides he's reached a point in his life where he needs to be somewhere else, so be it. Maybe one of his parents aren't well, maybe he developed an allergy in Ct... Whatever. He doesn't have to explain why, to him, CSU is the job he wants. He also doesn't owe us any thanks, beyond Dave Benedict who found him and hired him. Rather than trying to make ourselves victims of his abandonment, we should be thanking him profusely. I'm a 70-year old cancer patient, but I just saw UConn post back-to-back 9 win seasons.

Getting a pass? Clearly not by most posters here. JM's leaving was announced maybe 3 days ago, on a holiday week. My sense of Mora is that he's a thoughtful person. I suspect he is planning for the right time to say the right words. Folks here need to have a little faith. If nothing has been said a week from now that's a different discussion.

The right time has past. No way to sugar coat this. I am not saying he isn’t partly justified due to certain things not happening and now it is in no one’s public interest to bring them up. But, note the public graciousness is coming in just one direction.

He left the program in Storrs better than he found it…

Between Lamont and Benedict, there is one person in the reporting chain who is silent, along with Mora.
