St Johns is branded as SJU officially? Please provide a link to something official? I looked and couldn't find any. SJU.edu is St Joseph's and they seem to own that branding. I'm really curious on this. Have see SJ but not SJU on official things for St Johns.

Sticks versus Queens (and the crappy part of Queens), meh. SJU probably owns a lesser share of NYC then UConn right now but neither dominates.

The crappy part of Queens? An apartment there probably goes for more than a family-sized house in Storrs. SJ is in a residential section of Queens with million-dollar houses right outside. It's more Long Island than it is Queens really. SJ is not in the middle of the Queensbridge projects. At least it's alive.

Are seriously defending Jamaica as a nice part of Queens? The campus is disgusting, the facilities are deplorable and it's a commuter school. Also you haven't won a tourney game in 16 years. Just give it up and go to bed.

Why are you still here? One thing I inherently love on this board is when we can have good discussion with fans from other schools. However, you're here trolling for no apparent reason. If you were more civilized, or wanted to stay on topic (BRISCOE), this would be a great thread. Instead, it's turned into a dong measuring contest (that St. John's will lose 10/10). Why?

guys, why are we wasting our time with Johnny? Let the guy be excited about Briscoe. I mean, we have won 4 championships since 1999. SJ(U) has been to the dance 4 times(1 vacated) and has a total of 1 victory. He admits that their coach really isn't good for anythign except recruiting.

So this is his big chance to get excited.

Now, just because as a 7 seed we plowed their conference champion last year(a so called top 10 team because they beat up on the midgets of the BigLeast), a defeat so freaking easy that we barely broke a sweat and were never seriously challenged despite the fact that the NCAA tournament MVP missed large swaths of the game with foul trouble and an ankle injury, is no reason to rain on this guys parade.

Throw him on ignore, move on with our lives and lets reclaim this thread and keep it squarely on Isaiah Briscoes recruitment information.

Thank you, PSA over.

To be totally honest I wonder if Lavin's wife has seriously been used in recruiting efforts. If any UConn fans haven't seen her they should google her. It's worth it. Anyway, again you keep changing the standards. You can't say SJ hasn't beaten ranked teams, and you can't say they haven't been to the tourney recently, and you can't say they don't recruit well, so you have to pick something they haven't done in a while to make your point: winning while in the tourney. You can pick and choose and find stats that make anyone look bad. Why can't you just admit the obvious: that Tulane, Tulsa, and ECU cannot compete with the tourney berths, final fours, ranked wins, or recruiting levels of SHU, SJ, PC, etc.? I mean everyone knows that. You don't have to be stubborn just admit it.

The reality is that few people (beyond you) care about a win in a game played in December, January or even February against a ranked opponent who likely is overlooking you. Tournament wins do actually mean something however yet you continue to avoid that point.

We will see if playing Houston, SMU, Tulane, ECU and Tulsa, along with Temple, Memphis and Cincinnati in conference will actually hurt us. My personal opinion was that our games against Seton Hall, St John's and Providence would be offset by games against Marquette, Georgetown and Villanova if we were still in the Big East so that would be a wash. Beyond that, we aren't in the Big East any longer so there really is no need to concern ourselves with that conference beyond trying to secure games against the schools that are of some substance, we apparently just closed.a deal with Georgetown, adding Nova would be nice not necessary, no other school in that conference offers much.

You are right. We wish we were SJ, wish we had your team, your coach, your record and especially your football team.

I find it hysterical that you are not using SJ after your SJU lecture

As far as conferences go, both of our conferences are irrelevant. Except SJ & the BE are doomed to stay that way.

Fresh Meadows is nice and residential, but with horrid public transportation. Jamaica is not nice. It's the crappy part of Queens.

So SJU, any feedback on branding?

Hey Johnny,
Really appreciate your input here. Your positive outlook about queens really makes me consider moving from Manhattan right on over there.
Go back to your own board and stop trolling.
We get it. Your mad abkut SJU sucking and you think beating is for Briscoe will somehow undo the last 10 years of pain.
On the bright side I would like to thank your university for doing s great job hosting the sweet sixteen and elite eights games for us this year.
Now be a pal and run along back to obscurity and enjoy the fruitsof what remains of the big east.

You beat Nova congrats. I wouldn't say "plowed". I would reserve that to the smack down SJ gave you in 2011 at the Garden. You know that 89-72 win SJ barely broke a sweat for. And we also beat UConn again after that as all freshmen when you had your postseason ban but still had a good team. UConn is not unbeatable. UConn is a good not great regular season team and once it comes tourney time UConn rises to the occasion and gets boiling hot. You aren't that team going undefeated tearing through people that you think you are. You are good finishers. The Giants were a wildcard team in 07 good not great. Once in the playoffs went into turbo mode. That's UConn. And it's not in Jamaica it's technically Hillcrest, Queens. But people up there wouldn't know the difference on their farms. It's actually a beautiful campus with many new buildings. The streets surrounding it are very safe and the houses are nice for the most part.

I already sent the link for the SJU branding. I have a pin I got from the university that says "SJU Alumni".

But seriously I'd like to keep it to Briscoe too. I was really just checking in to see if there was any update.

Right, because teams that have been to Final Fours, been ranked recently, and won Big East tourneys recently are in the same ballpark as Tulane and their ilk. We've already been through this. From top to bottom the Big East craps on the AAC. The bottom Big East teams would be mid-tier AAC teams and knock off some of the top teams. Remember that Seton Hall beat Villanova a top 10 team. St. John's beat #12 Creighton and a bunch of top 25 teams in the past 5 years. SHU was also ranked just a few years back and just got a 5 star PG. PC just won the title. So these are the schools you compare to Tulane and ECU?

Did you ever think you'd be defending fellow conference mates Tulane, ECU, Tulsa, Houston, SMU, UCF?

SMU? As in Top 25? SMU?

Look, it was nice to have the likes of the Johnnies an Seton Hall on the schedule because they were RI mid major type of games. And our guys got to go shopping in NYC too which is always neat

Second half of the Nova game, they got plowed.

So what are your honest thoughts on Lavin? Do you think he stays, or gets canned? Who do you want as a replacement if he is canned? Can you get that person as coach?

Are you seriously trying to knock us by claiming we aren't as good during the regular season as we are during the tournament?

They go shopping in 2011 and 2012? More like long bus ride home.

SMU is doing well because of one reason: Larry Brown. You know that guy who is almost 80? Once he's gone SMU is back to being a D-II basketball school.

I think if we get Briscoe he will get the benefit of the doubt for another year or two. If he can't get the team to the tourney after that then he's probably gone. As a replacement I know the general sense from fans is to get Hurley. If Lavin gets another good class and they still fall short of the tourney we will know it's Lavin who is the problem and he's gone.

similar to SJ's plight since Louie left?

I actually spoke with Briscoe at St. John's tip off. A lot of what you guys said you perceive about him seems to be true at least partially.

Everyone please stop feeding the troll.

First off, LOL at that last sentence.

Secondly, UConn has more than double the amount of Big East championships as St. John's.

I disagree. I have seen numerous UConn fans talking about football like you guys are one of the big boys in that category. You talk about a bowl game you made once. Cool. That was 1 year and you've been FBS for what like 15 years? I said it before and I'll say it again. UConn looks much more evenly matched vs. Villanova and SUNY Buffalo in football than Ohio State or Florida State. Even so, many UConn fans seem to hold onto the dream that you will become Ohio State somehow. Like that guy who went into business thinking he'd be a millionaire someday but stayed at about 45k never moving up.

It's rough. Our football team is like St. John's in basketball. Simply not cutting it. Johnny, I appreciate the empathy.

BTW, will somebody correct this ignorant troll. I know we've been to the outback bowl like 3 times . Somebody from the football board enlighten the Neanderthal who likes Fox regarding Uconn's past bowl history. It's got to be at least on par with St. John's basketball over the last 15 years. I remember the good old days of Ron Artes..... Oops, I mean Meta World Peace.

Well, not every program can have a Jesus Shuttlesw.... Oops I mean Ray Allen.

Don't really think many people remember how the regular season went most people only care about what happens in March

Hey Johnny,

How are those MBB championships treating you? Oh right, Premo-Porretta and Helms don't count.

How are those alums in the NBA doing? I hear JaKarr Sampson is putting all of our guys to shame. Although to be fair, let's wait and see whether or not he can even make the roster of the worst team in the league by far.

You beat ranked teams in the regular season? We beat them in the tournament while you're off daydreaming about Lou Carnesecca's sweaters.

Storrs is the sticks? We breed championships and successful professional players. Good luck ever getting there.

P.S. Don't let the door hit you on the way out getting back to your "superior TV deal".

One weird thing about Briscoe is that he was spotted at Seton Hall shooting around but now we know that must have been since it's close to home. This happened before he cut down to three schools leaving out SHU.

Well, in 2011, UCONN was the toast of NYC. 5 in 5. An unparalleled run to BET champions.

Oh, and then they decided to win the whole...duckckin'...thing. 2011. A great year.
