Is this Hurley after this game?

An asst coach should put tape over Dan's mouth when he hits the tunnel after a loss. Love him but it doesn't help to see this crap posted everywhere.
I hope he takes the right lessons out of this on roster construction, strengths, and weaknesses, rather than obsessing on the officiating, once his emotions cool down.

On Thursday on the way to open practice, a rock destroyed my windshield. I looked at my 10 year old son, who was the reason we went to practice, and said " we ain't leaving without a signature now". Fast forward, and Hurley is walking out the tunnel with wife and son, my son yells out " coach Hurley can you sign my basketball?!". Hurley was already past my son on the way to the court. He stops, leaves his family, and not only signs my sons ball, but chats him up. He legitimately is the best coach in America. I love watching ppl hate on him. They don't know him. He's a good dude. I was proud when I told him he's the best coach in the county. His reply? " i appreciate that brother"
He really is. When I attended the ESPN press conference in Maui in the hotel lobby on Sunday before the tournament started, the coaches had a fun FT shooting contest with a kid who they partnered with (Hurley won BTW). I was standing near the area where they exited the FT area and he signed a ball for a kid and when he walked by me "I said good luck coach" like a dorky little kid. He could have ignored me and I would have understood, but he did acknowledge me and said "nice shirt my man" (I had a UConn shirt on). He was great with the kids the entire time in hotel lobby signing shirts and basketballs, etc.

BTW, Calhoun ain't a jerk either. I went to E.O. Smith high school in Storrs and I would see him every now and then when he had his morning coffee at the Sugar Shack. He was very approachable and down to earth in his conversations.

Not phased. Proud of the team - if we hit a couple more threes having played this hard, we win. Proud of the coach who stands with his players and is one of the greatest college basketball coaches alive or dead. I’m disappointed in the outcome but proud because today was so on brand - even that.

I’m so over the Hurley and refs story. Every time he says something about a ref everyone craps their pants. You’d think he was committing assaults on refs.
He kind of is.

Alex was hacked on that up and under towards the end, which is probably what he's referring to plus Tarris was fouled on the goaltended basket.
The shot that plenty are bitching at AK for "missing." That truly did feel like a key moment in the outcome.

This is stupid every coach and player say things in passing when heading to the locker room in every sport from high school to the pros, just seconds after a loss.

This is the world we live in where everything is dissected and recorded, now Hurley should know this. I don't want Hurley to change but he should know that the rodents are out to get sound bites and hit pieces on him he's one of the biggest figures in all of sports.

Did Wolkens kid get expelled from UConn? Trying to understand what motivates this clown and his grudge on us.

I don't really care if he changes or not. Its a drama obsessed world. Everything is treated like reality TV. No one would have cared about this 20 years ago.

This is definitely real. Was said leaving the court as Baylor was going on for warmups. Idk people are assuming AI lol. Is this really out of character for Dan?

I thought the game was called pretty evenly. We might have even gotten a couple calls we shouldn't have. Dan was just blowing off steam the only way he knows how.

I don't know, I checked when I saw it. The Baylor game was in the second half.

Was Karaban fouled on the reverse layup attempt? Probably. But there were tons of fouls that could have been called but weren’t for shots at the rim, both ways, and if Karaban had gone hard to dunk (or Stewart on exactly the same play 10 minutes earlier) they were both more likely to have gotten a whistle.

That having been said, I met Coach once outside the Rent. Couldn’t have been nicer or more engaging. Would it be better for both him and the school if he would calm himself down more? Of course it would. But would I have traded him not making that remark for the love and sadness he is showing to his seniors walking off the court after a game they couldn’t have played harder but couldn’t make shots in the photo posted earlier in this thread? Not in a million friggin years. Intensity of the level he and Calhoun had/have can produce exceptional results, but comes with the price that you can’t dial it back instantly all the time. It is what it is.

This may be shocking to hear, but videos taken in the past can be viewed at any point in time thereafter.
