I can`t figure out what the player on the right is doing.

This is past the foul state. :eek:This looks more like jury, trial and judge territory.

No foul. I think refs most likely will not call a foul in a jump ball situation even though the majority of the time one player is fouling the other player in order to create the jump ball situation. Especially when one player jumps on the other player to try to get their hands on the ball, like what appears to be happening in the OP.

If the defensive player had her hands on the ball while the offensive player brought it downward from above her head........................no foul. Held ball.

Well... it depends..... on what conference you are playing in..... and who is the ref... and what
side of the bed that they got out on this morning. Or , Perhaps, a ref with too little or too much coffee?

Snapshots are always misleading. The player with the bal had just called the other player’s mother a bad name and was ejected for taunting.

Short answer: Yes, of course it's a foul.

While it seems on the surface that she's trying to do a Draymond Green/Rudy Gobert choke hold on her, a closer look reveals she's just trying to grab the ball and force a jump ball and the whole tussling for control of the ball makes it look more malicious than it probably was.

Don't go getting all serious on us now! :D

After a 5-minute review by 4 refs it is determined that there is one index finger on the ball so of course it a jump ball!

I love the Boneyard! Seriously! Whenever a rules question comes up, I put on my former referee's cap to give my best assessment of the rule's interpretation. BUT...................I LOVE the creative, sarcastic, flippant responses of my fellow BYers. Some of you should be writing for "Saturday Night Live" or (way back in my day) "Mad Magazine".

Alfred E. Neuman for President!

Keep up the good work, guys. I wake up several times at night (you will too when you reach my age) and after the obligatory trip to the latrine (Army forever!) the first thing I do after getting back into the sack is check the BY.
