Just wondering what the UConn women's record is at Mohican Sun. Somewhere around 68-2 since 1994-95?
This game should be well in hand for UConn by 3:16 left in the 3rd quarter (up by 32 pts in my estimation; I just have problems with the final scores and final MoV...).
Go Huskies!!!
You are correctLouisville beat us a few years ago, despite Caroline's heroics. (Paige was injured.) I think that was our only loss at Mohegan Sun.
Even though that FF run was after 30+ games including coming together after the loss at Tennessee, this year feels different. We have a ton more flexibility in terms of going big or going small, the newcomers are fitting into the UConn system faster than expected, the quality of the bench feels deeper and they already seem to be jelling on the defensive end. This FEELS like the beginning of a crazy special season, doesn’t it?Something to think about. We beat 3 great teams last season in the FF and had them all by a lot. What has so many of you so concerned about UConn in this game. Michigan is a really good team but not as talented as UConn. We will win by double digits and I dont think there will be much of a challenge. Im not putting Michigan down they are good but then theres UConn.
It's early in the season and things happen. What has so many of you so concerned about UConn in this game.
the 1st three words... "Michigan beat Binghamton"... says it all... Never even heard of Binghamton ...especially as a team to be concerned about in NCAA WBB until this thread.Michigan beat Binghamton tonight 120-50! It was 66-21 at the half. 13 different players scored for Michigan. Maybe they will be tired against UConn since they scored so many times tonight.
They are a team from the American East Conference out of Binghamton, NY. Their record is 3-2 with wins against Div II Geneso St 86-35 and Bloomsburg 92-44. Their only Div I win was at Akron 95-94, who's rated #322 by Massey. Their losses is Michigan and St. Bonaventure 65-68 who is rated #189 by Massey.the 1st three words... It really does feel different. Viewed even from this early season perspective, last season’s team — which totally dominated the tournament — now looks to have been precarious. But this season’s team looks almost bulletproof, with so many ways to win. Last season, if Azzi hadn’t returned to form soon enough, or if Jana and Ice had faltered, it might have spelled the end of the fairy tale ending early. Paige’s iron will had carried the team into the post season plenty of times, but that year she had enough help from Sarah Azzi and the rest of them to go all the way.Even though that FF run was after 30+ games including coming together after the loss at Tennessee, this year feels different. We only played two games in the Final Four, UCLA and SoCar.Something to think about. We beat 3 great teams last season in the FF and had them all by a lot. Tony misspoke. UConn beat a 1 seed, USC, in the Elite 8 or in three consecutive games, but I think we all understood what he meantWe only played two games in the Final Four, UCLA and SoCar.
In support of your post, the MOV in the National Semi-final is the largest for that game and the MOV in National Championship is among the top 3, I believe.
Back in the early 80’s I flew into Binghamton on puddle jumpers to hire people for the new plant in Oswego NY. Used to be a big IBM plant there. At the time they were D2the 1st three words... I gave scholarly papers at conferences held there twice. It's in the middle of nowhere. It's one of the lesser SUNY campuses.Back in the early 80’s I flew into Binghamton on puddle jumpers to hire people for the new plant in Oswego NY. Used to be a big IBM plant there. At the time they were D2
As a recent example, Notre Dame, the 39 point loser to #6 Michigan, just knocked off #11 USC by 2 points. The early season is a challenge in judging how good a team is.The early season is a challenge in judging how good a team is and the ND/Michigan blowout is another example of that. ND is not that bad and Michigan is not as good as a 39 point win would indicate. ND made 9% of their 3’s, shooting 2-22 and shot only 39% from inside the arc with 15/38. An off night that compounded itself. This will be a competitive game for a stretch but the constant tenacious defense and utilizing a very strong bench will wear Michigan down and lead to a 15-20 point UConn win.
Notre Dame will live & die with Hannah Hidalgo's performance. Tonight, she was unstoppable. Against Michigan, she faltered badly. As a recent example, Notre Dame, the 39 point loser to #6 Michigan, just knocked off #11 USC by 2 points. The early season is a challenge in judging how good a team is.
SUNY Binghamton is a rising school, academically. And for students from the NY Metro area who go to school anywhere in NY's western tier (Cornell, Ithaca, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo), you have to drive through Binghamton to get there.I gave scholarly papers at conferences held there twice. Ash hit her first two 3s, but went downhill from there. Mich was daring KK to take 3s in the 4th Q, and you have to go for it when you're that wide open, but maybe not in the closing minutes of a close game. Down the stretch, I want the ball in the hands of Sarah or Azzi.Michigan is a very good team! I would say better than most of us thought they would be however, UConn didn’t move the ball well at all after that first quarter. Geno will address that I am sure.
I am still waiting for them to hit their stride on the offensive end. Something just seems off so far with their offense. Maybe it is that their role players are not hitting their shots so far in the early season. What is going on with Shade? Her shot seems to be rushed! Anyone else notice this? We still have lots of time to figure it all out.
Anyway, congrats to Michigan and particularly Swords! She played lights out from three point range all night. She is a very impressive talent.
