Is Karaban the best husky ever if he gets third title?

Not sure if he'd be the GOAT but he'd definitely be on the Mt Rushmore for the UConn men.
How many faces on your Mt Rushmore? Aside from being on a team that won x number of years and he was a starter (all really good things); in the history of UConn mens BB he isn't in the top 10 statistically and/or he hasn't shown that moxie/ability on the court to physically carry a team.
Great young man and a true asset to the program but Mt Rushmore? Nah

Fair point because frankly Ray Allen probably doesn’t make the UConn MBB Mt. Rushmore.

Shabazz or Kemba literally carried us to a crown in goat worthy runs. They obviously couldn’t do it without the entire team, but it also helps the teams confidence knowing they had the best player on the floor every night.

AK was a piece of very good overall teams. I’ll die on the hill that Newton would still be above AK even if AK won his third UNLESS Alex is our true and unarguable leader and go to guy this year and we win.

P.S. We are such a spoiled fan base. The fact that we can talk about these hypotheticals is truly insane. After 2018-2019 I had no idea if we’d ever win the natty ever again (AAC and Football ruling supreme in college sports —> Thought we were becoming mid-major).

A GOAT type has to be able to create his own shot, and utilize that skill when the shot clock is winding down. He’s just not that guy. Kemba, Bazz, Newton, Ben, Emeka, and Adama are all higher on the list in crunch time.

Add Donyell, Rip and Ray. The fact that they didn’t play on a team that won a championship doesn’t mean they weren’t GREAT individual basketball players. Larry Bird never won a college championship. Neither did Barkley, Chris Mullen, SGA, Zach Edey, Shaq, Curry, etc. Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett, etc., etc., etc.

Eh, an ultra-glue-guy cannot be the GOAT. He was the 4th or 5th option on two championship teams and would be at best the 2nd or 3rd on this one.

He'll never have to buy a meal in Connecticut again, will be one of the most beloved Huskies of all time, certainly the most decorated, and will be on the Wall one way or another, but very far from the "Greatest."

Hmm

Yeah, in fact, Kevin Garnett didn’t win a single college game in his whole career!

He goes on the wall immediately after (and honestly may whether they win it all or not as the winningest player (which, with all love to Samson, is a better fit considering he was a starter for all of them)). But a 1st Team AA/FF MOP, which I genuinely think is possible with the physical maturity Hurley has mentioned, puts him on everyone’s Mt. Rushmore with a balance of accumulation and excellence, but does not reach true GOAT status.

On the other hand, we do know that Tyler is better than Jim Beoheim.
Can the board stop taking shots at Syracuse? We all know that Syracuse has become irrelevant and meaningless. UCONN's six national championships have put Syracuse so far in UCONNs rear view mirror.

Continuing to take digs at them somehow makes it seem that they are relevant to UCONN and college basketball.

The GOAT is not the best player at the pro level. The UCONN GOAT, to me, means just that. Are there more talented players that have played at our amazing alma matter? Yes. But if he wins one more, he will stand alone in terms of having 3 rings. That trumps the impact that any other player had at UConn. Let us not forget that the only thing we all care about is winning. Other programs are feeding institutions to the NBA. We just win. And that is all we care about.

First of all, I love Alex.

However, I always find this argument ridiculous. Sometimes circumstances account for championships considerably more than talent. Will Purdue and Gene Guarilia have four NBA championships and Dickie Simpkins three. Carl Malone and John Stockton have zero.
