Is Georgetown a trap game?

Less than 2,000 reported at the DePaul game, announced attendance of 4,028. Radio silence from the University, in part, because the men's basketball coach doesn't report through to the athletic director.

Today's story was that a former assistant coach with a familiar name has a role with the program.

It is not a trap game as the players know how important and hard to win conference road games are. RJ Cole's post game interview showed that our veterans are focused in.

The hole for Georgetown is pretty deep right now. It's going to take a lot to get them out.

That's good because I don't want to see the parallel to the 2006 team. I feel like that the 2006 team peaked when they got their revenge win against Nova and then after that they never matched that level. That home game for the revenge win in 2006 had the same crowd energy and anticipation at Gampel as students camped out in the cold for tickets.
There is no parallel to the 2006 team. That team sucked all year.

Just read a story on the game by Associated Press with the following closing line:
"The Associated Press created this story using technology provided by Data Skrive and data from Sportradar."

Setting the gameday excitement with this breakthrough method of writing, you'll be happy to know Akok Akok leads the Huskies with 46% 3 point shooting. It looks like taking away Akok Akok's 3 point shooting is expected to be pretty important to the outcome of tomorrow's game. Who knew, evidently the Associated Press Robot Writers have a scoop.

What I've learned from this thread is that Georgetown isn't good enough for this to be a trap game, which is exactly why it's a trap game. Hmm.

Wow I hope this years team sucks as bad as the 06 team that came within a bucket of the final 4…
He must be talking about 2006-2007. That was a rough season after losing so many guys from the season before. Wasn't that Calhoun's only season after 1989-1990 that he didn't take UConn to either the NCAA or NIT Tournaments?

They will be playing with desperation. Ewing is a proud man. Historically, I don't like it when UConn plays with a Mutombo on Georgetown. Hopefully we take care of business.

Talk about bad mojo. The Courant article on the game tomorrow is mostly about where college basketball media people think the Huskies will be seeded in the NCAA Tournament. Let's concentrate on the game they have tomorrow. Shreyas Laddha with a rookie move.

Yes that was a terrible season. IIR they started the season like 13-2 and ended like 17-14. They went like 4-12 in BE play. Considering they had an entire team full of future NBA players (albeit young at the time) it was prob one of the most underachieving teams or Calhoun tenure right behind the very last one.

If we're going to have a bad loss, let's do it tomorrow. Don't see it as a trap game or any other cliche. But as we head into one and done territory, I think the stench of a loss to this hoyas team would right whatever lingering wrong our guys might have hiding somewhere.

Lol we had the spread beat by 11 points with 150 seconds left and Georgetown ended up comfortably covering. Thank god I didn’t bet that game.

There's a difference between seems not good enough to win but actually is vs. just absolutely isn't good enough to win. This is the latter.
Only good enough to win against our deep bench.

UConn played well for 34 minutes (Outside the 1st 4 and final 2). All things considered, it was a let down after the more or less complete effort against Nova.

Georgetown likes to play a similar style to ours with much less mature players. We’re probably the only team in the league that lets them play their game. That’s their good news. Their bad news is we’re also playing our game and we’re a lot better than them. That’s never a recipe for an upset.
For teams like us to lose to less talented teams normally requires them getting us to play their pace. . We will beat GT 99 out 100 times this year.

Wha? A trap game and we blew 'em out of their own building until we emptied the bench. Honestly, I think you're all on dope.
My full posts provides context. An 85% effort will not cut it in Omaha.
