Yeah, not so sure about that. It was a production DISASTER and the American public won’t be so easily fooled next time.

How hard is it to make sure ear pieces and microphones work?? And the lead announcer was about 100x overhyped. Not to mention the buffering issues. That was as bad a night as Netflix could have feared with the spotlight on.
Don’t ever underestimate the ability of the American public to be fooled.

Anyone that’s watched a boxing match in the last 30 years knows 8 o’clock never means 8 o’clock there’s always an undercard Usually don’t go off till 11 o’clock. Standard procedure. Member all the pay per view fights back in the day? Old tyson fights were always in Vegas and deff wouldn’t go off till at least 11:30pm ET. They re not gonna have a 5pm fight in Vegas. (Even tho this was Dallas)
I guess the fact that Netflix was hosting a huge boxing event and drawing in many new fans to the sport, it felt a bit misleading to keep stressing Tyson/Paul 8:00 PM or whatever it was.

So you are right but even I was surprised at how definite some of those promos were that it started ~8 PM.

Was it sad? He went out there. Still showed some reflexes, but didn't look crippeled. He was washed at 39 losing to McBride.

Yes, I wish he could fight. But he can't. His body wont let him.

It was more sad for me. watching him move around like that actually made me feel old. :)

I'm not trying to defend anyone here and I think we all know that at 58 years old, Iron Mike wasn't going to do anything impressive. I thought he might be able to get some power punches in. I didn't watch so I don't know. We knew it wasn't going to be real boxing.

In sports we expect teams to let up when the game is over. Sportsmanship. Winning the fight in real boxing isn't enough, we want to see a knock-out.

"There was a point where he (Tyson) was not engaging back, I could just tell his age was showing a little bit.
"That violence war thing... that went away as the rounds went on.
"I tried to give the best fight I possibly could.
"When someone's just surviving in the ring, it's hard to make it exciting.
"I don't care what people have to say. It is what it is."
"I'm sorry I didn't knock him out.
"After I'd seen him tired I didn't want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience."

I don't blame him for not KO'ing an old man. I blame him being cpmplicit in embarrassing the entire sport of boxing twice a year.

The places I looked up all said main card starts at 8 pm with Paul / Tyson likely at 10/11. The main fight in UFC is barely ever on before midnight
