OT: Iron Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Netflix really screwed up and letting people think that the fight started at 8 PM eastern time. they lost people by the minute, leading up to the main ticket.
Great point, and the technical difficulties as the night went on was like adding fuel to the fire.

I am sure Netflix is looking ahead to charge for live events - big step backwards last night.

Tyson could have been wearing leg irons and would not have been any slower in closing to Paul. No one involved in this fight could not have known that. A complete set up. Anyone believing Paul is a legit boxer is fooling themselves. Any real boxer would have but Mike on the canvas early. Paul was obvious in his attacks, looked just as winded as Tyson by the end, couldn't follow up any combo and left his face wide open for most of the fight. If Tyson was able to actually get inside, he may have been able to land a knockout punch. The women in the previous bout hit harder and more frequently.

No need to consider any boxing event ever again if this is the best draw that they have.

Silly, scripted fight scheduled for kids and idiots. Pass.
So, anyone curious about the fight and watched it is an idiot? A truly condescending generalization by someone who clearly doesn't recognize their own idiocy. You're a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe we should schedule a fight on Netflix to hash it out.

This was a ridiculous boxing fight, of course. Tyson is 58 and no business being in that ring.

It also is a cultural touchstone event. You cant deny everyone and there mother was watching this.

As a cultural event, amazing, as a sporting event. You get about what i expected.

Ah, I thought you were going with "hope I die before I get old."
I was hoping for "Mama's got a squeezebox, Daddy never sleeps at night".

I would have, had I not fallen asleep

Absolutely scripted, or at the very least not a real fight. And they're not even really trying to hide it

Well, that was disappointing. You think, even if it were scripted, they'd have a few good exchanges. If someone would like to pay me $2 million to walk around a ring in periodically bite my glove, I'm open to it.

How was that farce sanctioned?

So many things wrong with it from Jake Paul clearly being on steroids and Tyson most likely being on steroids, to Tyson's age, to neither guy trying.

They didn't even try to make any of it look real, another black eye for boxing.

Netflix is going to surge in value after this.

Bandwidth is an easy solution to fix.
Proof of concept they can get massive numbers for a horrible product.
Yeah, not so sure about that. It was a production DISASTER and the American public won’t be so easily fooled next time.

How hard is it to make sure ear pieces and microphones work?? And the lead announcer was about 100x overhyped. Not to mention the buffering issues. That was as bad a night as Netflix could have feared with the spotlight on.

What does don't measure him mean and why is it against the rules?

This refers to a boxer sticking his arm straight out and leaving it there, not throwing a punch, as a way to find the distance their opponent is away from them. You can measure distance by putting your arm out then pulling it back but you cannot just leave your arm straight out to find out if the opponent is within your striking distance.

The real shame was the awful technical difficulties during the entire event did not allow people to see Serrano and Taylor go to war again. Two of the best women's fighters of all time, if not the two best, deserved their stage with all eyes watching.

I thought it was my wifi, so I started using my phone and data.

I gave up on trying to watch. I will probably go back and watch the Taylor/Serrano fight. Really wish Shu Shu Carrington's fight was televised. He has a bright future and would have been a great stage to introduce him to the casual fans that were tuning in.

Anyone that’s watched a boxing match in the last 30 years knows 8 o’clock never means 8 o’clock there’s always an undercard Usually don’t go off till 11 o’clock. Standard procedure. Member all the pay per view fights back in the day? Old tyson fights were always in Vegas and deff wouldn’t go off till at least 11:30pm ET. They re not gonna have a 5pm fight in Vegas. (Even tho this was Dallas)

Don’t ever underestimate the ability of the American public to be fooled.
