I never minded the Cuse program or their fans until they threw a party when we were left out of the realigment game last year (because BC is scared $hitless of us and rightfully so).
I'll give credit to Cuse, they are steadily a very good basketball program year in and year out, don't seem to have many lows in terms of particular seasons. Despite what some here say, they will NEVER be BC just because they are leaving for the ACC. BC has got to be one of the most pathetic basketball programs over the last 10 years in any power conference.
That being said, if not for Carmelo parachuting in for a cup of tea before taking his talents to the NBA, Boeheim would be the Marv Levy of coaches, and Cuse, fittingly would be the Buffalo Bills of NCAA men's hoops. Actually maybe that comparison isn't fair because at least the Bills went to the SB four times. The Cuse have proven to be an incredible black eye for the conference when it comes to tourney time. So many promises unfulfilled, including the night that Charles Barkley openly mocked the Big Least because hyped teams like Cuse, Ville, Pitt and ND would fall by the wayside while we would be left to carry the Big East banner over the finish line.
Think about how that program would be perceived if the ultimate one-and-done player didn't grace them with his presence for a few months. Would Boeheim have been fired during the Bernie Fine fiasco just because Cuse fans would have had enough?
Now as for their fanbase, some of them are good and want the rivalry to continue with UConn joining the ACC. But the majority are cowards. Incredible cowards who worry about some mystical recruiting battle they might lose to us if we ever joined. Sad excuse from a mostly sad fanbase consumed with jealously for three titles they'll only dream of.
