I'm not the guy who sends demanding emails to the AD

Guys, I think the emails need to go to Susie. Warde has proven time and time again he is her puppet, he hasn't made a decision since he's been here

I sent what I felt was a very rational email this weekend. I tried to keep it as short as possible. I failed. I wanted to send an official letter, but given where I am, an email would be more timely.

Below are the contents.

_______________________________________________________________

"I am writing to you in an effort to convey my displeasure and general concern in the current state of the University of Connecticut Football program. I urge you to give every possible consideration in upgrading the leadership of this fine program.

I have no official connection to the University other than the fact that I am lifelong resident and fan of the school and its various athletic programs.

I am very concerned and I have serious questions going forward about the viability of Paul Pasqualoni as the principal figure of our program. I think that UConn realistically will never draw the top flight talent across the board that a Michigan or Texas might. This means that our coaching staff must be on the very cutting edge at all times in order for our program to compete at an elite level.

Based upon our current results, I don’t believe that the football staff is functioning on the cutting edge. The team finished ranked #101 in the Sagarin Rankings, the offense was statistically #109, and the team lost to Western Michigan who finished the year ranked #114. UConn’s offense has never been explosive, but we could always count on a solid running game and an offensive line that could impose its will on the other team. All of this has now evaporated into thin air. I believe that allowing this staff to continue on its present course would not be a very good demonstration of a commitment to compete at the highest level.

The level of fan enthusiasm at the moment that I am sensing is at an all time low. Sales of season tickets are at an all time low. The level of fan unease is also at an all time high.

I would encourage you to address these issues with the football program and address them with the public. It is incredibly important that you articulate your vision to the fan base as we navigate through these troubled waters.

Thank you for spending a few moments of your valuable time reading my concerns."

For what it's worth, I got a very polite response from Mr. Manuel this morning a bit after 7:00am EST. It looks like he actually read the entirety of my e-mail but of course, no indication of any pending changes.

What did he say in his response?

I received a response as well. It was personalized and there is no way he didn't read every word. Very classy.

That is good to hear. Good to see Warde responding personally to these emails.

Yep, completely agree. I can't imagine how many e-mails this guy gets a day but this time of year you have to think it is quite a few.

The key paragraph of what I received and what was likely the "form" part was:

"I can assure you that I share your concern about the performance of the football team over the past two seasons. Coach Pasqualoni, the coaches and student-athletes understand that they have to perform better than they have the past two years and they are working to improve in all facets of our program."

LOL. I had the same exact paragraph as well. There was more to it than that however.

That means we are stuck with him for another year. There was clearly some copying and pasting involved in these responses. :p

I don't blame him. But that's a good sign because it means he's getting a ton of emails. Not all was copy and paste.

I know not all was. But we're stuck with PP for another year. That is going to be earth-shattering to some people here.

Yup, another year of PP ahead.

I came to that conclusion yesterday when Coach P held his conference call. Anyone who is still hoping for a change at the top is doing that in vain at this point.

I suspect that we may not see any major changes to the staff until after signing day. Can't see them jettisoning recruiters coming down the stretch.

Welcome back to the frustrating land of two consecutive losing seasons.

Like I said, if there are still people here that think that there is any chance he is going to get fired, then they just don't know how this works. If it doesn't happen yesterday, it doesn't happen until a year from now.

If you send a letter, you should be including how many years you have had season tickets, how many tickets, what level parking you pay for, how often you donate to Uconn athletics, travel to the away games you have traveled to (especially any of the really god awful road trips) and how the current football leadership, lack of exciting product and overall coaching performance results in you re-assessing your allocation of resources. If you sign your real name, he (or someone in is office) will start looking up and keep track of how much this will impact his department in terms of real $$$. Operating the Rent on game day costs the same if there are 20,000 people of 40,000 people. Loss of core fans will have a huge impact to the FB bottom line. Those that paid for the initial season ticket package and multi-year commitment when the program got started will be especially impactful if they write because these are the hardest of the hard core and if you start losing them, then you really are headed into the abyss.

At the very LEAST, GDL must go. That's the LEAST PP has to do. Unless PP wants to continue to emulate the Patriots with a dual TE offense.

If PP fails this upcoming season to have a winning record and go to a bowl, I think that'll be his last year.

Winning will bring people back. It's not the end of the world. Unless you believe in that Mayan calendar stuff. Ironically, Mayan civilization ended before their calendar.

That's a good idea. But I have a hard time saying that I won't support if so and so isn't fired, because I know that would be a lie.

Next season, I will be back in the US. I will probably travel to at least one away game and try for two home games traveling in from Kansas City.

We would have to be truly horrid, like 1-11 horrid for me to choose to miss out.

Unfortunately, PP has a history of being in this situation. He has a history of standing by his man. What's awful is that I can't see him replacing GDL and removing him from the staff completely.

What kind of OC is going to want to come here when he knows that Paul's confidante GDL is still around?

Completely agree. I even sent a response back which he also replied to but that's it for me. I can't help but respect someone who actually responds to random fans just because they have an e-mail address, regardless of whether I disagree with his decision.

Likely going to be another rough year next year again. We lack WRs that have hands of glue right now. Hope this o-line can be fixed too. And we lose starters on defense. Doesn't look good already.

I got essentially the same feedback - "I can assure you that I share your concern about the performance of the football program over the past two seasons"

But know "someone" read it because it referenced a suggestion I made on a non-coaching issue. (to convene formal focus group of season ticketholders to discuss improvements to game-day experiance and program outreach).

It is what it is...
