Eric, with his back to the basket, spun to his right along the baseline and laid in with his left hand. He's going to be quite the player for us.
Math is not their strong suit. The FOX studio guys on the postgame all criticized the call..... said it should have been a shot clock violation...someone needs to whisper in their ears they are completely wrong.
The clock operation screwed up twice on same possession and once earlier in the game. Really can’t find a higher quality clock operator in NYC? Also a bush league officiating crew too.Yes the clock wasn't reset when it should've been so they could ignore it resetting when it shouldn't have... Easy peasy
Weird comment considering that we led the whole game.Nah we have to figure that snit out. Can’t keep giving up leads.
He looked good in the 1st half. He stopped running around curls and getting into the paint for the middie. It was a lack of execution in the second half.Solo shot is broken. 2-9 from three.
off the glass, even. I don't recall any of our 5s doing that.Eric, with his back to the basket, spun to his right along the baseline and laid in with his left hand. He's going to be quite the player for us.
For some reason the studio guys Jacobson and Ellis were adamant that was a bad call. Maybe they didn't understand the explanation.Let’s be 100% clear. The shot clock call was 100% correct. Karaban rebounded the ball as the clock went from 2:30 to 2:29. On the whistle, there was 2:10 left. He got it off in time.
I mean we had people in a span of about 5 minutes go from saying we are one of the best teams in the country to panicking about how we were going to lose this game when we were still up 10, lol. Seemed a little bit too reactionary to me. Then again, I know that's the norm around here haha.Nah we have to figure that snit out. Can’t keep giving up leads.
That’s what they said, but I went back and watched the whole possession over and that explanation was nonsense. They looked at the full possession and determined that the initial reset of the clock at the start of the possession was wrong so the hail mary ended up being in time
Illinois played out of character because of UConn’s defense. The studio guys could have acknowledged that. The guys on the call did.The Fox postgame was odd...all of them basically trashing the good guys saying how ugly a win it was, and then declaring it was completely out of character for Illini to play how they did. If I didn't catch the end of the game and saw it, I'd think they won
The clock DID reset on the first shot. I had to go back because that whole situation stunk to me and the explanation does not hold up to inspection. There were 2 offensive rebounds during the possession. After the first The clock should have reset to 20 seconds because the ball touched the rim but the clock did not reset. After The second rebound the clock did reset but it should not have because the ball didn’t touch the rim. The refs correctly ruled that Smiths 3 and foul should be upheld because it happened within 20 Seconds of the first offensive rebound.
That’s what they said, but I went back and watched the whole possession over and that explanation was nonsense.
We did but that's because Tarris was at 20%. It's pretty awesome that the drop off shouldn't be too big when Eric comes in and there should be some two big looks as the season goes on. They are very different players and could cause all sorts of matchup problems.Dare I say we looked better as a whole with Reibe in today. He was very good. Solo shot still not falling and 2 air balls. Under 25% on the season now. Ouch.
I own my bad take. Loved the ball movement and aggressiveness in the first half. They followed that up with wining the physical battle in the second half to get the lead up to 21. The depth was shown in this game. The 11-0 run was worrying but they got what they needed on offense and rebounded effectively to end the game. Great win!I told all you worry wort weenies in the Scouting Report thread we had this taken care of. Statement win
Reed doesn’t strike me as the kind of kid that can tough out some pain. His body language was lousy today. Reibe was the better player when in.It's getting to the point where Ross is quietly effective. No real splash plays today but he made a difference.
Reed tried to force things today. Not his game. Don't blame him but he will learn from this.
I’m not worried in the slightest. Just would like to make things easier on ourselves. Get some walk ons in the game hahaI mean we had people in a span of about 5 minutes go from saying we are one of the best teams in the country to panicking about how we were going to lose this game when we were still up 10, lol. I get what you're saying and I don't like seeing us blow leads either. I'm just not worried about it. Refs gave Dybantsa a good whistle in the BYU game, Illinois got a pretty one sided whistle once we were up big in this one. Shooting also went ice cold both games. We should probably scheme around the poor shooting a bit better, but I'm confident the staff will sort that out. We still won by double figures

That cut by Ross for the easy dump down is exactly the kind of headsy plays we need out of that role. These are the kind of things Stew doesn’t do.
