It is a simple question, yes or no? I voted YES although I rather doubt UConn's ability to pull it off.

Need fresh blood.

Joe Moorhead is not a retread. He is 47 years old and has not yet reached the apex of his career. Moorhead is one of the most respected offensive minds in the game today and is the perfect candidate for the job just like Hurley was the perfect candidate for the basketball
team.

Much like Andy Reid, Moorhead is a head coach, offensive coordinator and QB guru all wrapped up into one package.

That's why I answered yes.

I don't think UConn can or will get a coach with his resume.

But, if they can convince him, you don't wait for something better.
I hope it’s Moorhead, and my guess is it will be for 6 years. What he will also need are a DC and OC who can also recruit in the Northeast. We need to keep players like Levis, Ragini, Tyler’s big brother, and Gulbin, in state.

Six years would be awesome. That's got to be around $12-$15 million salary for him and about the same for his assistant pool. So, $25-$30 million for the entire staff over six years. That's doable.

I'm fully aware that it is not realistic (not even sure it is remotely possible) but if the possibility of Moorehead, with Orlando as his DC exists I would sign up for that in a heartbeat.

Questions I have:

He knows the deal here, does he want to return?
Does AD David think he is the best?
He is a known name and I would think he could recruit talented offensive players to UConn.

Wishing Coach Moorehead a speedy recovery from his recent hospitalization (MUCH belatedly). If he is able to resume a full workload, he would be a perfect fit for the Huskies as he knows the layout due to his past employment here.
We all know that FHCRE held the reins too tight on Coach M.'s playcalling & I'd like to see what he could do here in an unfettered situation.

I'm guessing he's in like for the Penn St job now that it appears Franklin is leaving

He knows the upsides and downsides of the job. He knows exactly which questions to ask Benedict. It isn’t a certainty, but it’s not as remote a possibility as some believe.

Sure lets ignore a guy that's been successful at every place he's gone (including UConn) just because he's been here before. I'm glad you're not making the decision.
What makes you think he wants to be here? What makes you think we can afford him? And you’re correct, I’m not making any decision. I just think someone fresh is needed.

It will be interesting if Franklin actually does leave Penn State. I think he is overrated...and schools like USC can do better.

I think he'd be great, but there's already a bunch of openings and I'd be shocked if he ended up at UConn.

Where do you see that Franklin is leaving? He's one of those coaches that every time there's an opening somewhere uses it as leverage for more money but never is serious about going. Penn State seems like a cushy gig: make sure the kids go to class, ensure no rapes occur in locker room showers, go 8-4 or 9-3 most years with a decent bowl game, and get paid lots of money. Everyone in that league has ceded the throne to Ohio State, so a lower bar has already been established making coaching life easier. You won't get that kind of leeway at USC which churns through coaches.

Penn State is going to hire a top head coach, not a guy who washed out at Mississippi State after two years. They're going to be looking at a guy like Dave Clawson.

I don't think folks here appreciate the fact that most coaches who don't get the job done in their first stop absolutely take a step down if they go for another HC gig. Moorhead might get a better offer than UConn, but he might not, and if not, he's probably coming back. I don't know why folks are so down on Moorhead returning, but it's absolutely on the table.

Moorehead has done a lot to rehab his image within college football since Mississippi State - it seems there’s general understanding that was not a cultural fit. He would definitely be in the running for the Penn State job, should it open (which, after Saturday, Franklin looks a lot less attractive, doesn’t he?)

Anyway, hope you’re right!

If Rutgers can spend $60 million on their staff, then Uconn better make it doable. Wise @. SS
