I really hope Mullins comes back

Yeah, I just watched that clip. Doesn't sound like Hurley will encourage him to leave if he isn't lottery lock and if BM enjoyed college.
70-30 he's back. On good accord his dad said he was coming back in DC. Then the shot happened, they ran it to the FF. The Mullin's are likely gathering info on whether that helped his stock at all, into that under 20 range.

Still imagine Mullins will enter the draft process (without hiring agent) to get NBA advise which would be smart even if he intends to return.

He does that, we won't know what he's doing until late May - suspends our opportunity to find a good replacement. I'd think most of the top tier stuff is gone by then.

Dan Hurley begs to differ with many here;

Dan Hurley on @dpshow: "What I’ll tell Braylon and his family is, 'Do you like college?' Some are in a rush to get to the NBA because they don’t like being in a college program. [...]The world has changed. There’s not this pressure to go to the NBA because of the money situation. Players like Braylon probably make more money at UConn next year than he would if he was the 15th pick."

They can have agents now and come back. They even have them to negotiate NIL and revenue sharing in college.

That sounds like a subtle hint that he thinks he is not nba ready and would benefit from another year at uconn considering the money is going to be the same.

.-.
Hurley kinda with a reality check in the DP interview around his current players - yeah ur getting recruited to leave but we also have guys asking to come in. Basically said they are debating on building best team they can year to year or staying their course and only supplementing with portal.

Should be interesting. Time are changing fast. Buckle your seat belt - could be an entirely new team. AK may be taking his glue with him.

Is that true? The 15th pick makes $4M+ per year guaranteed. I will happily be proven wrong on this point because I don't really know what NIL and revenue share is paying players.

Only if he is using Dybansta as the benchmark

17 on Jeremy Woo big board, and Woo is definitely plugged in. I think a lot depends on how he works out in the combine & in any individual workouts. Seems like his range could be anywhere from like 15-30, similar to Liam last year. I’d like to see him back, there’s a ton he can improve on. But you see the upside, he’ll get drafted & developed in the NBA too. Can’t really blame him either way. Just a gut feeling he comes back to bolster his status. I think slipping late into the first is a real possibility & I’d bet his camp would be in favor of returning versus that outcome.

Hurley was on with Dan Patrick this morning and said that unless you're going lottery, 15-18, or simply don't like college, it makes no sense to go. That the players are driving better cars than him at this point.
Of course they are. That was my entire point in dispensing with the "life changing money" bit. Dan has plenty of money. But he's 53 and realizes that having a hot new ride is pretty low on the priority list. He has other priorities in life. 19 year old kids don't. Mullins is already making "life changing money" from NIL insofar as the exact dollar figure matters.

I don't know what Mullins is going to do (and I can see a very valid argument in either decision), but I don't suspect this draft will be different from recent ones.

I am convinced that at least a few players that would have withdrawn from the draft in prior years will remain in this draft, then return to school if they believe it is in their best interests.

I'm convinced the NCAA made a massive mistake when they allowed James Nnaji to play for Baylor this season as he was drafted in 2023, based on his not having signed an NBA contract.

I don't see how they can enforce the rule that ends eligibility for a player who hadn't withdrawn from the draft by the deadline.
Absolutely. Once you do it for one guy you no longer have a legal basis to not do it for everyone. Anyone who declares for the draft has a legal basis to come back if they don't sign a contract, including guys that don't get drafted at all.

The NCAA enforcement of the timeframe and eligibility rules are effectively arbitrary and capricious once they break them for one guy.

I do think there is a lot to be said for Mullins earning power in NIL based on "the shot". Someone else said it in this or another thread - he'll be the face (or one of 'em) of college hoops next year at UConn

He had Liam #13th on his big board immediately after the 2025 tourney, and while I can't find the same immediately following the 2024 tourney, he had Castle #14 heading into the Final Four. I mentioned this pages back when BR's Jonathan Wasserman said Mullins had a "strong Final Four" after shooting 9/31 from the field, these dudes hate moving off of their early predictions/projections until reality sets in.

I was at about 30% of Braylon coming back- now that I listened to the Dan Patrick interview with Hurley- I would think about 65% he comes back to UConn- especially of all the interviews I heard over the weekend from his father.
