I had a good feeling before the game even started when ESPNU showed the UConn team in a huddle and Kaleena was doing all the talking, loudly and with emphasis. She said in the papers that last night's game would be different and she made sure it was so. She can not only talk the talk, she walks the walk. Great leadership from a young player.

It is sad, because she is a freshman.... but she needs to be the floor general. She needs to be the Captain. She needs to be the one who motivates and get her teammates motived and moving. She needs to be that spark Geno has been saying we are missing. I would have thought Caroline or Tiffany would have done that. Taken charge, but they haven't. Caroline has disappeared, and at times Tiffany plays so fast she becomes careless.

Tiffany has done the pregame huddle in every game I've been to. Maybe the team just wanted to give Kaleena some shine. Caroline is a leader on the court as well. Both she and Tiffany have shown their leadership this year.

Don't know why leadership has to be a either/or thing since more than one player can lead and in different ways. And I didn't start this thread to give KML some kudos at the expense of other players.

You can see her maturing on the court. Her game has evolved to include drives to the hoop, post up move and terrific rebounding at both ends.

She seems to improve, in some way, every game. I would like to see her improve her shot off the dribble. I'm sure she will.

Try looking at it from the glass half full view...we have the emergence of a charismatic leader and we'll have her unique personality and immense talents for three more years!

Sorry, but I saw Caroline giving KML advice at times last night, and I saw Tiff, Bria AND Stef being very animated in the huddle and from the bench. KML is growing up before our eyes, which is beautiful. But PLEASE DO NOT denigrate the others at her expense. They are a team trying to find their way together.

Yes KML has been speaking up and out recently! Did you see the You Tube video? It was great Kelly has been speaking up and being quoted by the beat writers. So has Stef. On the bench Caroline,I have seen Carolyne talking to the players like a Coach! Is it Banks who is very animated,slapping hands when ever players are coming out and during timeouts? I see a close knit team.
I expect the players and crowd to be very animated tonight. ND will be favored,but I expect offensive and defensive adjustments to be evident. Kia will see more time with Stef and to give Stef less time so she has more energy in the 2nd half. Defensive intensity is going to be there. Offensively more screening to open up KML,Bria as well as getting ND in foul trouble! Peters,continues to be vulnerable to temper and frustration. I expect the entire team to play more like we did against St Johns then we did in the 2nd ND game!
Keeping ND from dominating the offensive boards,off of the foul line,and better handling of the ball with less turnovers and not letting ND get easy baskets are going to be key!
Punchback as talked about will be the difference in this game.Eric,read responses by me to your posts during the past week.LOL,you will be at the game,so not sure if you will be able to do this prior to the game. I am not sure that we might want both McCall and Drummond even if we get DD. I think Taya is a ND lean! In 2014 we will have lost Stef, and Stokes will be a SR. That will leave us with Stokes SR,Stewart and Tuck JRs. So in 2013 we will be looking for both a big in McCall,DD,and a guard Saniya? 2014 a big in Drummond,Calhoun, and a combo guard. Watch for news re an elite PG/SG from Ca,AZ, and or Texas If Turner is in play for us of course we will be going for her? What is the story there? We will be losing CD*,Kelly* and Buck after 2012-2013 season,Bria*,Dolson*,Johnson,and Engelin. in 2013-2014,and in 2014-2015 KML,Stokes,and Bank will be SRs. So getting big time players in 2013 and 2014 to surround Stewart,Mo,and Tuck is important to keep what are going to be great teams next season and the year after! As you had said to me,players who are UCONN type, wanting to play in a Championship program,willing to wait to start.
