I do confess that as a college basketball fan, I didn't plan this and feel rather blessed by my choices of educational institutions. It's a pretty nice situation to be in. I've been waiting to see UConn at AFH for a long time, and had promised some people I'd get back there if it happened. Hope you can make it, I'll buy the beers.

I hoped he choose UConn and if not that he'd pick KU over UNC. That said, I was concerned about his defense. We've been in almost no recruiting battles with Kansas that I can recall.

Uncles, aunts and cousins went to KU (Grandparents and some others to K-State). But oddly enough, a friend from UConn planted the idea of law school generally. He decided to apply to Kansas Law only because he knew me. He graduated just before I started and loved it there (I took two years off).

So, striking out, going away from home, but to a place that was comfortable in some ways (I'd never been to Lawrence). Great decision. No regrets.

Hope several of you get to go to the game and check it out. Lawrence was founded by New Englanders, abolitionists, including John Brown. The New England Emigrant Aid Company specifically. Massachusetts Street is the "main street" for a reason. The campus sits on "Mt. Oread" (it's a hill) named after the Oread Institute in Worcester, MA. The place has a fascinating history. Jayhawkers are part of that.

Very cool. I would definitely like to attend a game at the Phog. I thought Bill Self would win a title with Fighting Illini. He certainly has done well in Lawrence. Lots of suburban Chicago kids used to attend there. Not as much now. They're heading to Boulder now.

In my time the fraternities and sororities were loaded with Chicago area kids. Had a few in law school too. Last I knew, Lawrence was 2nd to Boulder in Birkenstock sales. They probably have some similarities, both with good live music scenes as well.
