Husky Run finishing times

As a person who has run 4 marathons, I would pay to see boneyarders run a 5k. I can't get the image of comic book guy running out of my mind.

Whatever you'd pay, I'd match. Then, we'll set out lawn chairs and man the defibrillators.

It would look like an episode of The Walking Dead a half-mile into the race.

You are slow like a brontosaur.

I am 6'6, 265 and I can run it in 16 minutes. I run like the wind!

5'9 / 169. I'm thinking I'd do it in around 28-29 minutes, depending on time of day...

I did the Husky run four times. Never had a time over 20 minutes.

It's more like 3.1 miles than 3.4 depending on how you cut corners.
If you cut enough corners you can probably get it below 10 minutes. ;^)

What's positive is that they all finished. Shabazz made out like a 'bandit', pun intended.

I never liked running long distances and I would bet many players don't as well. I never trusted my brain to have something to think about during a 20 minute run. I respect all who finished irrespective of times. It ain't easy to run that distance (at least for me) unless on a treadmill watching Jerry Springer.

It surprises me that a 5th year senior GUARD who has been though the most conditioning and workouts out of anyone on the roster comes in 10th place? I know this was just for fun and what not but it's just weird that big centers and forwards beat a Guard that I thought would be 1 of the most conditioned guys on the team. Guess not....

so based on your thinking here, you're telling me that Khalid El-Amin in 1999 should have been able to outrun one of his underclassmen teammates who's a forward...?

Best not to engage him in conversation. It doesn't lead anywhere good.

These are pretty damn good 5K times. I run at least a 5K a few times a week on a local trail, and I average around 25-26 minutes.

I have a feeling those who are claiming that they can beat these times are just tripling their 1-mile run time from junior high school.

Thats funny. I was thinking the same thing.

6. Omar Calhoun, 22:27
7. Tyler Olander, 22:28
8. Phil Nolan, 23:35
9. Enosch Wolf, 23:47
10. R.J. Evans, 25:02
11. Shabazz Napier, DNP (injury)

I have a feeling they are taking their imaginary one-mile run times and then tripling them.

I ran a 5:17 mile in high school.

That was 25 years ago. I couldn't even run a mile now unless I could stop for oxygen a couple times along the way.

Ran a 21:04 5K earlier this year, have been an on and off runner throughout the years, really flat run in Fairfield which makes is so much easier. I've probably run 20 or so throughout the years and this was my second best time ever. Decided to retire from them on a high note. I'm a big guy, not Tampa Bill big - 6'4" 220, Clydesdale.

Thoughts are that a guy like DeAndrea, who is paper thin and is going to be generally well conditioned, can probably throw a pretty good time up there, can probably do it. Long strides.

More like taking their imaginary times and doubling them.

Have to agree with Huskiesnyc here. Many tennis players are in awesome shape. I also play tennis so I know how much physical endurance you need. Some pro level tennis players play 4 to 5 hour matches playing singles. You have to be in incredible shape to last that long on the court.

Huge difference between tennis where there's 10-20 secs of explosive running and stopping and keeping up a pace for a mere three miles. Anyone who runs sub-8 minute times in a 5K has top cardio conditioning.

This is a great idea. I'm in no kind of shape, but if you set up coolers full of rolling rocks every 500 feet I would do this in a heartbeat.

Actually, high intensity interval training (what you described above) is one of the best ways to lose weight and get in great shape.
