Hurley is the best coach in the sport right now

Come on, Tom. He's HOF bound too 😁

John Cheney - 0 titles, 0 Final Fours, 2 elite 8s.

I'd be shocked if Dan Hurley didn't have his day at the HOF. I will personally offer to chauffeur him from his home in Connecticut to Springfield Massachusetts, birthplace of basketball.

Being critical of mistakes doesn’t mean I hate him , want him fired or think he sucks. Your shtick makes no sense, especially now when they have just won 3 games and are one win away from his 3rd final four in 4 years. Calhoun didn’t even do that and he is a god. Not sure what your angle is, but it’s nonsense.

I love this thread. I think it’s creating secret Mojo, Tom stirring the pot and all. Tomorrow is going to be super exciting. And yes, we should not talk about the game after the shot, as that was my first year at UConn and almost mortally wounded me. However, that is why Duke will always be enemy number one during tournament time.
Cheers!

That's not true. UConn didn't have the ball with a chance to take the lead after like the 2 minute mark.

Houston was up 12 (UConn never more than 6), was leading under a minute left, and had the ball down 2 and didn't get a shot off. They still only lost by a bucket...but, like really, not on a McNeeley meaningless shot.
I like my version better.

And you are a Mensa member

Smh

(I’m sure you will have to look that up)

LOL. You may be the least self-aware poster I've ever encountered. You got called out on your BS, with receipts, and now want to pretend it never happened. This place is high comedy much of the time. Thank you for providing the entertainment.

Bob Hurley Senior has accomplished more in his lifetime than his sons have at the same stage in their career. 26 state titles.
One college national championship is 25 high school state championships.

There are a lot of people on here who love UConn but for whatever reason don’t love the head coach. That’s blatantly obvious to me.

So this needs its own post. So grateful for this guy not only saving our program but achieving such incredible greatness. Wouldn’t even consider trading him for anyone.

And this, folks, is how you get 74 LIKES in 12 hours.

You can’t say he’s a Clingan merchant, I’ll say that. Ridiculous that was ever an opinion, even on Twitter

We're so freaking spoiled that we can't even acknowledge the fact the post is true. Since 2023 Hurley and team are the best in the country.

I just don't see how you can call yourself a real Uconn fan if you disagree with it. Not to mention they have blessed us with the perfect Elite 8 matchup. Win or lose, and this Dook looks beatable, and Danny and the boys have given us yet another wild ride through another crappy winter.

Coaching is the one thing that gives us the biggest advantage tomorrow. Until it's taken away, Hurley & Team are the best in CBB. Maybe if Golden made a deep run this year and Hurley flamed early, you could start saying Golden is moving in. Right now the best sits in Storrs.

Hyperbole at its finest. I'd say Top 5, maybe Top 3.

He's not even the best coach in his family (Bob, Sr - HOF coach)
Could you name said coaches ahead of Hurley? Bob Sr is retired. We are talking about in cbb right now.

Bob Hurley Senior had 12 back to back titles, and a 155 game winning streak.

1. He coached HS basketball. The OP was clearly referring to CBB.
2. Even if OP wasn’t, Bob Hurley is retired. The thread is clearly about current coaches. Notice nobody else has referred to any retired coaches such as Wooden or Knight?
3. It’s weird that you decided to take potshots at Hurley’s objectively awesome resume—is there any coach in history who would have taken Wagner and URI to multiple Sweet 16s? His career trajectory is absolutely incredible.
4. Why do it the day after he took down Izzo?
5. Probably should’ve sat this one out.
6. You’re still my favorite Tom Emery.

I agree with all of this except with Golden. I think Golden is overrated and saved by Clayton (not entirely unlike KO-Shabazz).

There is really no such thing as the best coach. You would have to be the winningest coach, best at clock management, best offensive coach, the best defensive coach, the best motivator, the best best recruiter, the best at player development and on a on. And all those aspects can be broken down even further as in best zone coach coach, best man to man coach, etc. The whole concept of best coach is nonsense.

I know this. We have a very good coach. But arguing about who is the best coach is as meaningful as arguing how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.
No attack but I have had a half dozen angels on the head of my pin over the years ; )
To the point of the thread I have seen Dan has fully embraced his players and they love the vibe. That and like all good leaders has surrounded himself with good coaches. Next step who he picks to replace Murry. Most great leaders have a next man up list just like AD's. He has seen this coming and promoted his assistants openly.
