Hurley has a plan

Edit: I thought that once a player starts the year as a medical redshirt, they can’t play for the rest of the season. I just learned something.
There's no official medical redshirt status. He could play at any point and burn the redshirt year. It actually technically won't even be a medical redshirt since he can just have a regular redshirt year. So could theoretically end up like Hudson Greer at Creighton who was going to redshirt and halfway through the year they decided to play him

You never know - injuries happen. Not a bad position to have someone back there just in case, late in the year.

Fellas - As I stated in a previous post - County will be the backup PG. If we bring in another PG it will be 3rd string
Remember freshman guards that performed great for us. Rasool Diggins and Ahmad Nowell. People should remember that when they suggest freshman point guards.

Another big man gone, hopefully Hurley has a good plan

Following coach - not a surprise. We aren’t making a splash at the 4. Need NK in weight room, kid needs to get to 230 or so.

Surprised we haven’t seen more announcements happen today - kids like Sarr, Evans, Johnson, Mara.

He probably wasn’t ever going to be able to pull two centers out of the portal who both wanted to start and who both commanded starting center NIL level deals in an inflated market. Landing Hines was big, but it also limited our hand going forward.

Now we have to find a 4-5 combo as a depth piece. It may be a mid major guy, who wants the chance to be in a championship level rotation and salivates at the chance to be the hustle guy off the bench. Or perhaps someone on the Euro market who wants to come to the US.

This kids a 4 - not every euro is a 5, lol

You don't risk the season on in incoming 4-star being able to change positions while moving from high school to college.

Especially not a difficult offense that even an experienced PG moving from a mid-major struggled to run efficiently much of the time.

It sounds like you forgot Silas is still on the team, jobin.

Apparently I forgot that he never gets tired or hurt so never needs to be substituted.

I'm going through something. It makes me forgetful.

We need to get bigger in order to match up with these Euro pro style teams Illinois, Michigan and Florida are creating.

.-.
That would be a horrible plan. To lose a national title shot seems an awfully large sacrifice to "make sure" Junior County (who may or may not be worth rostering down the line) remains on the roster (even though he still might transfer ala Reibe or may not be good enough like Furphy).
Unless you are really Danny Hurley on a burner account, I don't think it matters if you think its a horrible plan. Any plan the coaching staff is happy with, I'll be happy with.

Why? We beat Illinois, Florida, and almost Michigan (and Arizona) with a much smaller team this year. Matching size with size isn't the only way to win, I think we've proved that.

If you were Dannyu Hurley's burner account and you actually believed you didn't need an alternative backup PG, I would suggest you seek some outside opinions as it seems you have gone back to thinking too well of yourself. Understandable then (two straight championships), understandable now (you took a battered team that was nowhere near it's true potential to the finals) -- but still, you might want to ground yourself.

I never said we don't need a backup PG, I just don't think it should be someone that is going to assume to be the primary backup because it looks like Hurley thinks that will be County, and if he thinks that, I trust him. We do need someone as the 3rd option in case Silas gets injured though, but I think that is someone like Millender, not Smith. And I know some people are going to bring up Furman, but he was in there with the rest of the 2nd/3rd team so I don't think that is a fair assessment. I saw him play a lot of minutes in the MSU exhibition when Silas was out, and he did a great job.

And is your avatar a pic of County? What's that about?

An addition to the advantage in certain games themselves, a credible Double Big option as part of the rotation impacts Bigs in the transfer portal. Instead of splitting up 40 minutes on a team, with a Double Big narrative it goes to 50/55 minutes.
