Hurley has a plan

Might have been more of an NIL/money issue than a basketball one. If Mullins went pro, we could have freed up the money for Freeman to be our top option, and then tried to find a Joey C type or a Euro on the cheap (and then in that scenario, perhaps Ball tries to come back). But we’d have been close to tapped out to pay both of them - and then maybe Nik doesn’t come.
No matter what happens in bringing in an additional solid player, there will be a Joey California-type coming in as well. If there is a Koby Brea out there in the portal, this year we aren't telling him he is surplus to requirements.

Last year had a stud at every position. Ross is a good player, not a stud.
you are discounting the effect of Dan Hurley and UConn mens hoop. I thought last year looked grim at times, I knew the tourney might not be great for us, but it was. Root for the kids, and trust the staff. It's a journey, not a destination.

Should be zero, he will get his next year

I don't care how a two year deal is structured. I'm not sure I've heard of any two-year deals for any team or any player needing surgery/rehab.

If Solo is staying at UConn and in rehab for a year with no strings attached, that's great for Solo and an amazing show faith from UConn.

My guess is Solo has to have a two year agreement that potentially benefits both. I wish him the best of luck in his rehab. I wish both all the best for the 27/28 season.

Maybe not, but most of our titles didn't have studs at every position. It's not possible to watch the last part of the season and not notice that Ross leveled up, especially his shooting.

During the NCAA, not once did I think him shooting it was a bad idea. He's that much better than a year ago. Especially if he's the 4th/5th option most of the time, he's going to be a massive glue guy.

These are the fouls per 40 minutes of Sanogo, Clingan, Johnson, Reed, Hines for their freshman seasons (junior for Johnson since he essentially didn't play the first 2 years). All were between 13 and 18 minutes played. For a guy that everyone talks about fouling too much I assume it'll be easy to pick his foul rate out of the list here.

I don't think we can win a championship or possibly even a final four or final eight without another quality big because of how easy it is in our league to get fouls called (on us at least). Reibe was able to give more than adequate minutes to keep the two headed monster going or we would have been up the creek. Again making a case for Diop ("don't count Uconn out after his St John's visit"). Don't care about the NIL cost. Hines and Diop with the rest of what we already have is enough to intimidate anyone in cbb. We are already shelling out a lot of money for Nil and salaries but getting to the top only is what Hurley is throwing around. Find the money. It is only the incremental cost which will or will not make the difference. So far the only argument I am hearing is money and only the insiders know what this is and all the rest is merely speculation (including me!).

We have the best staff in the country. They were not blindsided by this Solo news. They definitely have a plan and have earned our trust to get it done. I am content to see how things play out knowing they have the entire offseason to get the final roster in good shape to meet the standard we can expect from Dan Hurley teams.

Of course it won't be without challenges. The Solo news could end up being a blessing in disguise for our long-term success. Let's see how we capitalize on the opportunity. None of this would be possible without the culture Hurley and his staff have cultivated. We can all draw confidence from that.
