If I were the president, I would’ve talked to him too. I would’ve told him to calm down for the good of his own career and reminded him it’s just a game and he’s got it mastered anyway. That’s not a threat, that’s just giving him some perspective because everyone knows he’s hard on himself. This is a guy that never thinks he’s good enough. No big deal telling him to chill out and smell the roses along the way.

I'm guessing that if anyone within the school spoke with him about his behavior in Maui, it would not have been close to what he heard from Andrea.

As far as I'm concerned, if that conversation did or did not happen, it makes no difference, I want Hurley to remain exactly who he is.

Due to BACK 2 BACK DOMINANT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RUNS, Hurley has a free pass from the administration for a few more years for his behavior…unless he runs into the stands to choke out a fan (which is possible)

Pretty sure Hurley himself has stated multiple times that he is not proud of his actions in Maui. I get his frustrations but at the same time it's not a good look. No real story here as far as I am concerned. He has really reeled himself in since then. Whether it was him watching the tape of him or whether is was his wife or the University President he has toned it down. I'm sure he will still moments but this is such a benign "report".

Do I think someone spoke to him? I think so. The President? I’d say doubtful. More likely The Athletic Director. It was more than Hurley being Hurley. I imagine someone told him his actions were not acceptable behavior because they were not. Doesn’t mean he can’t yell at officials or express displeasure with the way things are going or that he can’t ever get a T. The truth is he screwed up and it would be perfectly reasonable for his superiors to talk to him about it. Not a big deal.

Did someone at UConn ask him to relax? Probably, but I’m sure it was a light request. And Hurley woulda been right to laugh in their face.

Did this random BC fan (whose whole gimmick is trolling UConn fans on X) actually source this from someone reliable enough to put it out there? I would bet against that, why would anyone with clout at UConn give that clown any negative press to use?
Agree. If DiMauro had a reliable source, he would have put it in a newspaper article, not on twitter.

“Obviously I’m an intense coach,” Hurley continued. “But again, I grew up on Big East basketball in the ’80s and ’90s when that’s how the men coached and that’s how the games were played. And I grew up on Knicks-Bulls, I grew up on Lakers-Celtics, and Sixers-Celtics – that’s the basketball and men competed life or death to win games and it was total desperation and that’s how I coach. If people are too soft to not like that, I guess they could try to cancel my style, but I don’t (care).”

Lol Hurley can be so dramatic.

I thought this was buried 6 weeks ago? Leave it to Mike DiMauro to stir the pot. I'd love to know who his sources are. I hope Hurley confronts him about it. Maybe he can start the conversation by asking DiMauro how BC is doing in basketball since their move to the ACC.

"All I'm going to say is that I've not had a text message, a phone call, a conversation, a meeting at any point this year, from anyone at the university that hasn't either wished me a Merry Christmas, a Happy Thanksgiving, a Happy New Year, a 'great win' or 'keep pushing coach,'" the UConn men's basketball coach told CT Insider following the Huskies' 68-60 win over Georgetown on Saturday.

On Friday night, Day of New London sports columnist Mike DiMauro replied to another post on X by saying: "Just so you know: Hurley was called into the university president's office after Maui and was told to knock off the behavior. This is from solid campus sources."

UConn coach Dan Hurley denies social media report that UConn president talked to him after Maui

Hurley's final comment: "UConn fans: Engagement farming media, those people that are not legitimate, they're winning if you respond to what they're writing. Low-level journalism. Unfollow, and please leave it with, like, one or two likes. Don't engage that (junk).

Pretty much directly calls out DiMauro as being garbage.

What a crock. I grew up on those games too. Never saw Thompson or Rollie or Calhoun or Boeheim or Looie throw themselves on the floor and kick like a 2-year old. There was a certain level of “performance art” in what those guys did. But they were always under control. Hurley has lost control on occasion. Maui was such an occasion.

Did you see Boeheim at Duke back in the day? Geez.

Did you see them win back to back national championships?

Yup, Boeheim looks completely in control. Lol. Do you watch college basketball at all? We've seen hundreds of tirades like Hurley's in Maui.

Sure, but that's not what's being alleged (baselessly).

The most damning piece of evidence is that a guy who loves nothing more than to bash UConn didn't bring this up for nearly 2 months, and then dropped this nugget in an 11 PM tweet

Then scoot here runs with it. I saw JC run on the court and call one of his players a motherfather so loud you could hear it in the nosebleeds. I've never seen DH do that.

To his credit Hurley never berates his players in games. At least I can’t remember any times. Maybe early in his career at UConn?

He said his modus operandi is to be hard on them in practice and supportive of them during games.
