Huh, it’s not just the Boneyard

Nooo, there's never any wild over-reaction here on the BY. It would be interesting in retrospect to keep track of all of the insane comments made each season and have a year-end vote on the Top Ten for the year.

Mandatory inclusions:
  • Geno forgot how to coach (after every game in which UConn wins by less than 20)
  • <insert name of incoming freshman> is going to be one of the best ever (based on a 25 second IG video in an exhibition game vs. a team of 8th graders)
  • <insert name of non-starter who has 1 good game after 6 stinkers> is unstoppable!
  • Bold proclamations that include words such as "always" and "never" to remind us that this game is so predictable that it's rarely worth going thru the motions of actually playing
And my Hall of Fame inclusion: Nika shouldn't start.

I have never, never overreacted to a game. Ever. In my life.

Jana is unstoppable!!

There are no truly great teams this year..........just a bunch of very good teams (UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, LSU, Texas, South Carolina and UConn) that have the players to play great in certain games......South Carolina is learning what UConn has dealt with for decades "Heavy is the head that wears the crown"........

On some of the SC fan pages I was shocked to see some Gamecock fans call for a HC change. I get the disappointment in Columbia over the bad loss to UConn. But the idea of getting rid of Dawn Staley, who turned SC’s WBB program into a national powerhouse while winning 3 national championships is absolute crazy talk.

I think it was very cute for The State to refer to the Gamecocks as USC, and later calling the real USC, Southern California. It's the other way around.
Why is there "a" real USC? Aren't they both USC?

That definitely sounds like BY on Dan Hurley at the moment :D

There is a South Carolina fan on r/NCAAW that is acting like the sky is falling and other fans, including UConn, are reassuring them that they're still great. Another SC fan said that because their Football and MBB have been kind of mediocre for a while they treat WBB like Alabama does Football and now I get the overreactions
If I was a fan of SC and watched the complete dismantling of their team yesterday I would think the sky was falling too. Watching them play I just didn't see the star power that many other teams have and nobody has three #1 overall recruits on the floor except UConn.

Around four years ago the University tried to re brand itself as the UofSC but it seems to have disappeared from its marketing

Having lived in NC for a bunch of years there are two things I know. Unless you were born and raised in SC, USC refers to Southern Cal. And unless you were born and raised in SC, Carolina refers to the Tarheels. Doesn't seem fair but that's just the way it is.

Debating USC ? Talk about people having too much time on their hands.
We do have too much time on our hands! Between golf, pickleball, bocce, bingo, bunco, poker, book clubs, gym, walking & biking on the Heritage Trail...I still have time to argue over common sense.

IF the Boneyard is discussing Southern Cal & South Carolina in the same blog...and both have a relationship with UConn (not Colorado)...obviously I was confused that the acronyms (USC) weren't distinguished better...such as saying Southern Cal or South Carolina.

SORRY, but I have to get back to my Bombay Sapphire, it's MM (Martini Monday) in SW (Southwest) FL (Florida).

Neither is trade marked . There can’t be more than one trademark and both have legit claims. Therefore, none.
Also, you cannot trademark common expressions or sets of letters. What you can trademark is letters that are part of a logo, like the NY Yankees logo which has been trademarked since 1977.
