34% shooting, poor decision making and constantly jumping in the air without any plan is killing our offense. It’s about time for a change.
Agree - thought he played much better todayStrategy was much better with him today. Coaches clearly talked and re-centered him. He did a lot of driving to the paint. Just didn't get calls and he missed all his wide open 3s.
A lot of it is road/crowd.

This. Who are we plugging in for him? Outside of a couple games, Diarra just doesn’t bring anything offensively. He has a ton he needs to improve on, but given the alternatives that starting spot isn't going anywhere
I realized he had 24 against us at ecu when Bouk had The Dunk!!He has a ton he needs to improve on, but given the alternatives that starting spot isn't going anywhere
I remember that game. I want that Newton. Not the one we have that is tentative as hellI realized he had 24 against us at ecu when Bouk had The Dunk!!
Very true - but the other problem is that neither are capable of scoring!I’m probably in the minority, but I like when both AJ and Newton are on the floor. Both are capable of handling the ball and distributing.
Truth is we need Newton to get better on the offensive end. Did some better things early but somehow went back to not being the aggressive player. Needs to try to score much more often. We have no other answer, Diarra is a nice piece off the bench if he's our starter we are in trouble period!
Funny thing is, as a big PG Newton should watch tape on Castle. How he uses his body and hesitation moves to get where he wants, and shoots over smaller guys.
That’s effectively what happens already when both are on the court together. Jackson has been the primary initiator for some time now.AJ should be the starting PG. move newton off ball let him play as a combo/scoring guard with an emphasis on attacking the hoop. i don't even care if he makes it i want that mindset drilled into his head.
These aren’t freshman, and most of our transfers are from P5 conferences. Providence should not shake them up.A lot of it is road/crowd.
I would get Joey in the starting line up and move AJ to the point.AJ should be the starting PG. move newton off ball let him play as a combo/scoring guard with an emphasis on attacking the hoop. i don't even care if he makes it i want that mindset drilled into his head.
Providence is 27-1 in their last 28 home games. They have one of the best home courts in the country. The only team to beat them was the Nova FInal Four team. These aren’t freshman, and most of our transfers are from P5 conferences. Providence should not shake them up.
After the first half, the crowd was actually pretty quiet until they started putting the game away with 3-4 minutes left. The team didn’t just shoot poorly; they looked shook.Providence is 27-1 in their last 28 home games. They have one of the best home courts in the country. ALL players shoot worse on the road. ALL players get called for more and draw less fouls on the road. Not just freshmen. There's a reason why beating a top 75 team on the road is the same as beating a top 30 team at home.
