I was born in 92. Guess I'm one of the few born then who's lucky enough to remember Ricky Moore's lock down D in the '99 final

Grew up in Jersey and had no idea I was going to UConn, but I was happy when they beat Duke in 99. Came to school in 01 and have watched almost every game since!

Became a fan cuz Al Weston came from my home town. Loved listening to the radio w the Whelton, Hansen, Abro teams, and then of course Corny/McKay/Aleksinas. Still remember listening to the NCAA game lost to Rutgers in 1976....Uconn was very good then, but Rutgers was obviously awesome.
Same with me. Hansen and Abro were Naugatuck Valley guys so that is where it started for me. I loved the Weston/Whelton backcourt. To this day I think UConn is not recruiting the Bogalusa, LA area hard enough.

I was a fan by the time they won the NIT in '88. Not sure how long. I don't really remember watching the team pre-JC/Cliffy.

Born in 1978. First memories of rooting for Uconn was the NIT team in 1988 and then the dream season in 1990 I became a die-hard fan.

Born in '96, first last UCONN memory was Emeka and B Gordon beating GT in the final, pretty much destroying them the whole game and toying with them. I'm from Long Island so I'm not sure why I got hooked on the huskies, but I ain't complaining, up until about a week ago I guess.

Whatever year Whelton and Hansen and the boys were tearing it up. In 7th or 8th grade my junior high Spanish class went to some conference on campus and ran into Tony H outside the Fieldhouse. (I started watching a couple of years before that I think).

I got familiar with UCONN basketball during the '84 - '85 season... Earl Kelley was a beast for us back then, when the Pearl Washingtons, Patrick Ewings, Walter Berrys and Chris Mullins of the world got all the accolades... The end of the Dom Perno era...

Became a fan in 1988 with Cliff and JC in charge, which immediately reached die-hard level during the Dream Season.

I moved to Connecticut in 1992, caught a game vs Georgetown and have been a fan ever since.

Born in '82 in southern CT, mom was a UConn alum, parents in general weren't big basketball fans. As the team started to get good I guess my parents started watching and my brother and I caught on quick. Earliest name I remember I believe is Chris Smith, so I think my family became fans in the early 90s. I can remember thinking that the world had ended when Laettner buried us, and literally praying to God for a win even though I was a non-religious Jew.

I am enjoying reading these, specifically the old timers who were fans long before any success came and the youngsters who became fans even though they weren't from CT

Moved to Connecticut from Long Island in 88 for my freshman year of high school and got hooked on the Huskies during Dream Season. Then cemented my love of the program at UConn.

I was born the in 70s, so my first recollection of Husky basketball was listening to games on the radio in the early 80s with my father. Guess I've been hooked for 30+ years.

Just curious. Personally, my first games were during the end of Perno's run. It was so amazing seeing JC turn everything around.
I've been a fan since the mid Perno dismal years. We foolishly gave up seasons tickets before Calhoun came onboard. Live and learn!
