How intimidating can we make Gampel on Wednesday?

I will say this: Basketball is Fun Again™️

It wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but for a game where UConn was out of it within the first 4 minutes and down nearly 20 at a couple points … that was the loudest I’ve felt Gampel since probably 2014. I left the game really disheartened they couldn’t come away with the win but somewhat on a high from the experience. It is so so good to be playing high stakes basketball against real opponents again.

And for everyone who has complained over the years about hype music, DJs, Gameday Conor, etc. - I think Dave Benedict is doing a tremendous job of listening to fans and making changes. The music selections are so much better, particularly during player introductions. The hype video before introductions is light years better than past years. They know we’re all just a bunch of evolved apes and throw t-shirts nearly every timeout to get the place loud.
Agree with all of the above. One minor and silly quibble would be to swap out the sad smoke machines during player introductions and go back to the fire towers from 3 years ago. The smoke machines don't even work most of the time and the fire was fun and were much more entertaining. It has next to zero impact on anything but just from a presentation standpoint its something I've noticed this year.

years ago we had this type of contraption at UConn games.

It needs to return

I consider myself a major crowd snob. When Florida last visited at Gampel, I criticized the crowd's enthusiasm while the rest of the board raved about it. That said, last night's crowd was stupendous. Almost everyone stood for almost the entire second half, even when we fell back to a 10 point deficit after getting to within a point. The pace of play and shot making played a big role in it, so I don't want to go overboard, but that was nonetheless the best Gampel crowd I can remember since I started attending games as a non-student in 2018.

Let's give Marquette and Providence a similar welcome!

I thought that Florida game was a really good crowd...especially for a November game. Last night we brought it. I can't say one bad thing about the crowd. I felt like people like myself had to get a few others on board, but once the second half started, no one sat, and no one shut up.
