How does UConn beat Creighton Tenn and SC

Loosing Ayanna for the season hurt and badly. Geno knew that she would not be ready. He tried to fill our last roster spot through the portal. We were fortunate in landing Kaitlyn Chen who has turned out to be an awesome addition to the team. Hopefully, not landing Beers, Iriafen or one of the others from the portal will not bite us in the ass.
 
Our strength is our shooters who hit a high percentage of their shots. So we need to be patient and run plays to get them open. We need to remain calm and keep our poise and we can win both games. My only fear is foul trouble. We dont foul and havent been in foul trouble but going down south, well that will be a problem....it almost always is.
 
Call me crazy, but I think Tennessee’s press will help us a lot. We should be able to turn it into some easy points; and considering how we have struggled in the half court… I think that is a very good thing.

I think this game totally comes down to our 3 point defense.

Creighton does not belong in the same sentence as Tennessee and SC. The game against the Vols will be a close contest. If we play our "A" game, we should win. We cannot beat SC in their house. Not a chance.

I would like to see a game between Creighton and Tennessee. I would expect it to be a single digit margin of victory for whoever wins. Tennessee only beat Iowa by 10 points at the Barclay Center in December, and Iowa is now well below. 500 in the Big Ten.

I think Creighton's experienced guards would have no trouble breaking Tennessee's press.
 
I believe the fatigue Dawn was speaking of was more mental. Remember South Carolina just finished playing 5 top 20 teams of which two were top 5 in a span of two and a half weeks. All of which they won by double digits except the last game. Theoretically in an NCAA tournament, they would never play such a a stretch of games consecutively in an NCAA tournament run to a championship. McDaniel is working her way back from a concussion and is definitely a part of the 10 person rotation,with spot minutes for Dauda, Tac or Walker depending on the effectiveness of play. I think South Carolina's depth will still be a problem for any team giving normal circumstances

UConn is first in the nation in field-goal percentage and 11th in 3-point. Strong is 21st, Bueckers is 38th (fourth among guards)

Bueckers: 0.546/0.426
Strong: 0.580/0.370
Fudd: 0.470/0.408

I assume those are the shooters TonyC was talking about. Those are high percentages in my book. Collectively they shoot 0.543/0.400. If that's not a high percentage, what constitutes a high percentage in your opinion? Can you find a team whose three top scorers are shooting better?

The second tier is pretty darn good too:

Shade: 0.470/0.430
Chen: 0.513/0.326
Arnold: 0.490/0.208
El Alfy: 0.535

So Chen's 3-point percentage not great and Arnold's is poor, but that's 70 out of the 500+ three-pointers UConn has taken.

As I’ve posted elsewhere, the team’s 3 pt percentage against its 5 best opponents is really not good.
 
ok, nice stats ... the thing that irks me is that uconn is excellent at holding out for the best shots available -- often wide open -- then doesn't sink them as often as their talents promise. they should have even better results re: stats. especially in big games, as vowelguy points out.
