I see that it is being reported that Gibbons has stepped down.

Is it stepped aside or stepped down? They have very different connotations to me.

Just on leave for now. The question I have is does he remain on leave only until the school reaches a determination, or does he remain on leave pending the results of the lawsuit, which would presumably be much longer?
