What schools do you root for and in what order? I promised @nwhoopfan a hierarchy of the 17 Division I schools in NC I root for this off-season. Of course there are 18 DI schools in my state, but one shall not be mentioned by me. I assume most of yall don't have as many schools on your list..... maybe some of yall only have one.

1) Duke
2) UNC-Greensboro
3) NC A&T
4) HPU
5) Western Carolina
6) Wake Forest
7) NC State
8) Elon
9) UNC-Asheville
10) Campbell
11) Gardner Webb
12) NC Central
13) Charlotte
14) UNC-Wilmington
15) East Carolina
16) Applachian State
17) Davidson

@tdf, are those men or women’s teams? Or does it matter?
UConn women
Cuse women (daughters school)
Cuse men
UCLA men and women.
Duke men
TCU women (Knew a kid that played there)
And I kinda like South Carolina (like Dawns attitude)
In that order

This needs to be pinned to the top of the page for easy reference during the season.

I am assuming UConn is 18? ;)

Well this was just for schools located in North Carolina. I'll get around to ranking the schools in various conferences sometime later (if i remember )

But #18 would be Presbyterian College in Clinton SC.

Just for women... for this thread.

.-.
For Women's Basketball:

- Arizona
- Rutgers
- Stanford
- Texas
- Northwestern
- Iowa
- the rest of the PAC (some more than others)
- the rest of the B1G except Maryland, Michigan State and Penn State
- For various reasons, moderately - Georgia, Georgia Tech, TCU, Baylor, Texas A&M, South Carolina

Hmm. Tough question after #1....
1. UConn
2. Anyone playing Notre Dame
3. Anyone playing Baylor
4. DePaul-love their style
5. Minnesota-friend is an asst. Coach
6. Texas-I want them to challenge Baylor
7. Anyone playing Central Florida-such ugly dirty bball they play

For WBB only:
1. Louisville
2. Anyone playing Kentucky
3 Anyone playing Notre Dame
4. Anyone playing Baylor
5. UConn (even though Geno pretty much owns us...but of course he pretty much owns everyone)
6. Cincinnati (I'm a big fan of Clark-Heard)
7. Syracuse (who doesn't love Coach Q?)
8. Florida Gulf Coast (I've been to a few games in Fort Myers and I like their mojo)

Women's basketball - my list is a short one.

1. UConn
2. South Florida

I'll never root for ND, Cuse (my brother-in-laws alma mater), Rutgers, UCF (thugs).

 Well UConn better be ranked higher than other schools in SC!!!! And better be ranked higher than NC!!! Head bang
You and a few others are coming perilously close to outright diatribes from us BYers if you don't list our school somewhere on your list considering all the time you spend on here (hint, cough cough @KnightBridgeAZ @nwhoopfan and of course @stwainfan )...:p

.-.
1. Mississippi State
2. UConn
3. NC State (have family alumni)
3. Pretty much any lower level team putting it on a P5 or big time program.
4. Used to would say anyone beating Ole Miss, but that hasn't been remotely interesting for years.

Notre Dame
University of Chicago (D-3)
Penn State (if they ever become relevant again)
DePaul

The list would get too long if I include all the teams I like to root against...

1-Mississippi State
2-South Carolina (if we don’t win then I’m pulling for them next. I’d be willing to bet this bond becomes stronger due to the relationship of the coaches)
3-Texas (strictly due to Coach Schaefer)
4-I will generally watch and pull for the other SEC teams playing out of conference)
I will normally watch and pull for Oregon, UConn, and Louisville if they are playing.
I’d also like to see University of Virginia become relevant again.

I think all the South Carolina and Mississippi St. fans deserve a call out as well!

I guess I admire Baylor the most. They play the most like hail state. But reason I like Mulkey is she can recruit all 5 positions and her players all seem quite different from each other. That attribute sets them apart.

I also really respect South Carolina, and definitely would've rooted for them over Oregon. Their fans just tend to misinterpret comments written about them and the discussion escalates unnecessarily from that point on.

3. UCLA (grew up rooting for the Bruins, mom is an alum)
4. Maryland (Big Alyssa Thomas fan.. kinda intro’ed me to WCBB)

I’m generally fond of Stanford and surprisingly Oregon.

I have always said, even though some would think otherwise because I was a Rutgers fan, I typically am neutral in most UConn games. I admire the program, many of the players that have played for UConn, and of course Geno as a coach. Generally, one of most enjoyable styles of play to watch, as well. That said, I usually root for the underdog in individual games when I lack a specific interest, and that is not typically UConn.

It should be noted that none of the teams on my list are there because they are "great" teams, South Carolina comes in because of Dawn, for example. And there are teams I didn't list. As someone said, a list of the teams I root against would actually (in my case) be easier, since there are so few of them (in WBB). In some other sports, the list might be longer.

My theory and sincere belief is that, for the most part, fans of non-UConn teams who hang out here a lot are really latent UConn fans and they just don't know it yet (although some of them actually do). But the biggest portion of that other part besides "for the most part" is you Tennessee fans. No Tennessee fan would or could EVER root for UConn under any circumstances. I totally respect (and sympathize) with that.
