HFS…Solo out next year with a wrist injury

I think we will be reaching out for another guard at least a Malachi type to help. Demary can backup the 2 if needed if we bring in a decent PG to back him up.
I agree and think we should have even if Solo didn't go out with the wrist injury. But this gives County the minutes some were claiming he needed, at a position he is more naturally suited to

Is it too late to call up Wilkins...? Start this year at the 2, start the following years at the 1, never have to play for Mark Pope. Compelling argument
Sounds like they are still recruiting the power forward from st mary. I guess it was legit when they said they wanted
We need a 1 or a 2. Stew is not coming back. Stew would be playing behind Nik at the 4 and Ross , Landrew at the 3.

Was this just complete mishandling of an injury by our staff on a wrist that was evidently beyond messed up?
We'll probably never know for sure but I think they knew he had torn ligaments and Solo refused to shut it down. He couldn't put any pressure on it, you could see it during all the games. It's next level the pain he played through.

Special, special young man.

First before we speculate on who we will get Solo’s shooting problem finally gets resolved. We knew he had an injury but to need surgery that needs a year of recovery? Wow.
We do not have access to the medical diagnosis during the season or did it worsen just lately. Can’t just blame doctors because maybe they gave Solo the choice mid season to hang on.
The kid is a total warrior to play with that injury and I can’t wait to get him back at full strength. Here comes 40% 3’s again!

WOW this is shocking, I figured he needed surgery but was thinking it was an 8-12 week recovery like most.

Must be a rather significant surgery to be out 6+ months.

Very tough news to hear. Does beg the Q- does NK move to the starting 3 and we get a bigger 4?
Yep. I don’t think Nik signs with us if we told him he’d be used as a stretch 4 like Duke was using him. I think he’s playing the 3, and we need to find another 4. Which works for us bc Hurley wants to go bigger.

A full year? Are they putting a prosthetic on?
Yeah why so long? Aren't these normally 2-4 Months recovery time? Bouknight had a wrist injury and he recovered a lot faster but we don't know the type of injury I guess.

STORRS – UConn men's basketball junior Solo Ball will undergo wrist surgery and miss the entirety of the 2026-27 campaign, the program announced on Monday (April 20). Ball will take a medical redshirt and return in 2027-28.

"Solo is a true Husky and a champion who would do anything to be out on the court," head coach Dan Hurley said. "This guy has shown throughout his career what a warrior he is. Solo is going to use the season to get his wrist fully healthy and then come back next year as one of the best guards in America while cementing his legacy as an all-time great at UConn."

Ball has scored 1,153 points in three seasons as a Husky and earned a pair of Second Team All-BIG EAST and NABC First Team All-District honors. He has started all but one game over the last two seasons and averaged 13.6 points per game in that span. The 6'4 native of Leesburg, Va. was a Top Five Finalist for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award in 2025-26. He is 10th in program history with 199 career 3-pointers and ranks 44th on UConn's all-time scoring ledger.

Was just thinking this. Would
Imagine he either doesn’t get paid or gets a substantially reduced amount for this year.
Yeah that is for sure. Probably something more than a regular red shirt since he has been a big star for us.
