Ideally you pencil Solo back into the 2 spot, but County and definitely Landrew will be looking to start or simply leave. This assumes both County and Landrew are ready and show potential this coming season of course. Hurley probably needs to recruit a vet wing that can play the 2 or 3 next season, regardless with Solo missing 18+ months of game action.

So Solo will have to compete for that starting spot. Doubt Hurley will hand it to him.

We are set at the 3 with Nik, Ross and Landrew. 1 or 2 is what we need.

I saw UW is in on Stew, and that he'd start for them right away.

...And that's no longer the Pac 10. Stew will have his work cut out for him.
 
Which wrist was it? He had the slam vs illinois in FF with his right hand.

Yeah, after my initial shock, I think its best for him and UConn both. Gives him as much time to recover as he needs, and then plenty of time to work in practice to get his shot back before the following season (while also being a hell of a quality player for the B team in practice). Simplifies the rotation issues for current players and freshmen, and lets the coaching staff me accurately target what we need from the portal (which now in retrospect is what they have been doing). Probably had something to do with retaining Mullins too, him knowing he definitely shifts over to the 2 now.

I wouldn't say he's overrated. The Fanbases, ours and opposing, know what they're getting from him. You can make the claim that he was overhyped coming into the year, but the expectation was that he would improve off a highly productive Sophomore campaign.

He improved his non-3 point shooting game tremendously this year but it was hard to get excited about that when his big contribution was always expected to be from outside. I also think he improved in rebounding and defense. Assuming the wrist injury was something related to soft tissue (ligament / tendon) it would certainly explain why he lost his touch. Cant imagine the pain he had to endure and hope he fully recovers. Will be a stud in 2027.

But it's not a loss because 26-27 Ball would probably just be 25-26 Ball again. Even if he got the surgery ASAP and was technically available by November/December, he might not be back to form until late into the season. This way we might get 24-25 Ball back for 27-28.

I'm not sure where Landrew will play, as he has played multiple positions.

I do feel like there is a sense among alot of us that Khamenia's progression from year 1 to a monster year 2 is
guaranteed. His numbers last year were a little above average. But I still think he is gonna have to prove himself here, beyond his height and athleticism.

He is trending up quick but so are Ross and Landrew. Should be fun

Yes, we are UConn, but lets not get too greedy. This kind of lineup will never happen in the transfer portal era unless you have unlimited NIL to work with.
 
So if I understand the situation redshirt now preserves his availability for ‘26-‘27 if they don’t change the rules. If they change the rules to 5 yrs to play 5 he could actually come back at the end of this year if he feels up to it and still play in ‘26-‘27

He's not gonna come back to be in as 4-way battle (Ross/Landrew/NK/Stewart) to start at the 3 or 4 in position.

With Solo are there are less bodies in the battle than yesterday, but still not ideal.

Yeah, he would move up the depth chart, but he would still be a backup. Probably go from 5-10 min to 10-15 min. I think he still wanted more than that.

Now that there is backup opportunity at the 2 for County to get playing time, I think a Smith type backup PG over a Millender one might make sense now.

Kudos to Solo for being onboard with this plan. A true Husky. This move helps Mullins showcase his game for the NBA at his true position. It helps Ross finally get his shot. It helps Landrew get the playing time he should. It helps County not being buried deep on the bench. It helps Solo when he comes back at 100% and slides into a vacant slot as the SG.
 
I was feeling good today after watching John Rothstein stating UConn had inside track on St. John’s and had path to Detroit. He even mentioned preseason top 5.

Of course this was before the Solo news. Here’s wishing Solo an excellent recovery and Dan to add some missing pieces.
