I can't understand why anyone would want a lower level SEC team making the Big East champion look like they belonged in the NEC.I loved it

Love this whole post. What a tool Slick Rick is. He is a great coach, absolutely. But can’t root for him or his team - especially after his waive bye to UConn comment. St John’s the school is basking in the glory he brought them this year / but did they sell their souls? I think he’s had just a couple of sex scandals? Nothing for a catholic university though. Pitino should have said we’ll see UConn in the regional final since we are big east brothers. Hurley is a much better representative of the conference.
You are bugging if you think this St Johns team was on par with his best Louisville teams in the BEAnd this was the best St. John's team I've seen in a decade. They also were the best team in the BE, winning the Conference Title. I will add that Cal had his number every year when they played kentucky.
Just saying Pitino not winning with the best BE team he's ever fielded is a downgrade on his legacy.
Hell, even Ollie did more with less.
And yet it happened.Doh!!
Thought I was in movie thread. Not sure how I transported here.
Good story. Calipari seems like a likable guy where Pitino would slice you up while smiling.Couldn’t agree more. I never met Cal but my good friends old man golfed w him once down at the jersey shore. The day started w him not liking Cal much from what he saw on tv. It ended w him absolutely loving him. Fast fwd a few years and my friends Dad saw Cal at some sort of sports banquet. Thinking he would have to remind Cal of the day they golfed, it was the opposite. The moment Cal saw him he went staright to him, “Hey Jim, how’s the golf game”. My friends dad was floored. Cal is that type of guy. Pitino is the opposite. He plays the salesman role fine when things are going well like most of this year. The moment that tide turns, and it always does w him, Slick Rick’s true colors come out.
The next step for the Red Storm isn't just about finding more outside shooting. It's about raising the money to attract the talent Pitino needs to take the next step in 2025-26.With Ripole backing him and de facto free agency in college basketball? Not anytime soon.
