This was a big game and in big games the light goes on in players heads. Everything done in practice shows up. In this game poise focus and confidence showed up. UConn put on a show under the big lights in the greatest city in the world on national tv. Everybody stepped up. The Big 3 shined bright and so did everybody else. Last nite we got a taste of whats to come.

All this talk about Paige not scoring doesnt matter. She did what she had to do to help UConn win and she made everybody else better because of the double teams she faced. Paige very easily couldve shot the ball when she crossed half court but she didnt. She got everybody else involved understanding its not about her its about the team. By getting everybody else involved they were moving not standing around waiting for Paige to do something. The very first play getting Azzi the ball and Azzi scoring lifted alot of pressure off everybody. That got Azzi going. With all the defensive attention on Paige she did what she had to do to help UConn win the game. She found the open team mates, she rebounded and made plays. When she came out of the game LVille put a dent in our big lead. That was because they werent double teaming Paige and leaving somebody else open.

All this talk about other top teams and their go to player(s). Some teams have one go to player and some have two. We have 3 All Americans that are fearless and more importantly smart players. We go a taste of how good this team is when healthy. We will get more kids back healthy soon and even get better. We saw signs last nite just how good everybody else are becoming. Last nite sent a message to WCBB that UConn is on its way back. IMO total intimidation. UConn has just to many weapons.

We've been hearing so much about other teams and players and how good they are. We havent heard alot about UConn. Well last nite brought back that feeling that UConn is back, so I say Hello WCBB. This version of UConn could be a nitemare for every team in WCBB. We will see tomorrow what the pollsters think.

Don't forget Ash who was 6-9 with those seemingly effortless midrange jumpers. This is what we've all been clamoring to see out of her.

One other note: you know who else has three greats in their lineup? ND. Can't wait for this matchup.

Again,Tonyc , we are on the same page. I have been patiently waiting for this game with Notre Dame as I believe that this win will convince others that UCONN is the team that should be NO 1 in the rankings, our destiny. As i have said before, this is the best team UCONN has had since 2015. All the players match up on this team man to man on the 2015 team. UCONN's potential is unlimited and their defense is astounding. This is our destiny.. GO FRESHMEN!!!! GO SOPHOMORES!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

Ash missed 3 shots? I don't even remember one that she missed. It was good to see her on fire last night!

ND will be a test. They seem to have our number lately. But we have not had a healthy roster the last few years.

ND will now have to deal with a three headed montster in Paige, Azzi and Sarah. And off the bench come Ash with her deadly mid range jumper.

Ice and Jana are holding their own. And not to forget KK. She may not be scoring goals but her defense is very good and she has the speed to stay with Hidalgo.

This one will be a battle. UConn must come out and hit hard and fast. Defense must slow down Hidalgo.

ND has 3 super players--they get around 60 points each game. Luckily for their opponents, they have inexperience at #4 and #5. Also, they have a few injuries and their bench is not very good. Their top 3 play a lot of minutes and I have seen ND as a whole wear out and break down in the second half. They lost games because of no bench and they were physically tired.
The game will be very close, but the #4 to #8 players will decide it. Interested to see how Ice and Jana handle the ND big girl (Koval?).

I watched the Syracuse/ND game in person today at the Dome. Syracuse hung with ND in the first half, but what did them in for a loss was their inability to make easy baskets and poor rebounding. If UConn — who is better at those things than Syracuse — can execute against ND like they did against L’Ville, they should be able to win by double digits.

That said, I expect ND will play tougher against the Huskies than they did the Orange. But Syracuse forced ND to make quite a few TOs and was rebounding well against them in the first half. That was what kept the game close.

Just loved the FOX commentators on how they were kind of shocked on how easy it was for UConn to smoke Louisville in the third quarter.
OK, Maybe a little off topic but after the above excellent observation by MSGRET it is time to get this off my chest: I didn't care for the Fox "commentators". I thought at one point that instead of calling the game they were going to talk about the weather in Greenland.

I mostly turn off the sound on many of the Fox broadcasts in order to concentrate on what is going on the floor instead of listening to sideline color jabbering.

OK. That's it. Back to Hello WCBB World.

When Ash is aggressive, she is a real difference maker. Using football analogy, she's not a No.1 receiver, but she can be a hell of a slot receiver.

One quibble and one outright disagreement
Quibble-Hidalgo 24.6, Miles 17.7 and Citron 14.9 for an average of 56.2, But yeah, that is closer to 60 than 50
Outright disagreement: They have a very experienced #4 in Pitt transfer Liatu King. She’s averaging 12 points and 11 rebounds a game as a 5th year player. She’s very good. Koval, is a freshman who is prone to foul and has great games mixed in with complete duds.

They only play 7 due to the injuries and are prone to tuning the ball over at 16 per game (146/9).

You think FOX is bad, just wait for the stuff we will hear from ESPN on Thursday. Over half of the time they're not even talking about the game.

I was yelling at the TV during the men’s game yesterday. A Husky made an important shot but I didn’t know who because Jay Bilas and the other guy were talking about a game between two other teams that happened last week. Very annoying

I doubt it. "Others" will say that NDame was missing Westbeld. If UConn wins by 8pts they'll say "so what TCU beat ND by 8 and SCar hammered them". You'll age fast trying to convince others.

Right now I am sky high over this team and the direction they are going and even a loss in S Bend won't change that. There was a season (2013-2016) when every starter on the team had had a 30 pt game. (or close) during the season. When you have quality depth and a couple of players have a mediocre or poor scoring game it isn't much noticed because other players have great games. This UConn team isn't there yet but the season is still young.

I too believe in this team but I must concede some concern about the tremendous defensive dominance of SC. I like to think we will be able to withstand that pressure and that we will be able to maintain our ball movement and good shot selection, but they are nevertheless quite scary. I am looking forward to seeing their games against Texasx2, Tennessee, LSU, and OU prior to our meeting on 2/16!

I think it is important to get Jana as ready as possible as she imo will/could be a big key in playing them! As long as we stay healthy, knock on wood, they are really the only team that really concerns me. Notre Dame, USC while obviously very good and who both could quite conceivably beat us, simply do not have the intimidating aura of SC! I believe Geno will have us ready for that game though, and win or lose, it will be a critical prep for April!

In the 1st game, which was a "thriller" and demanded both attention and the rudiments of identifying the action to a national audience, they were worse...missing one thing or another, while they regressed into never-never land.

One thing that comes to mind, they were never attuned, nor let the viewers know when a team was approaching or in the bonus and seemed surprised that foul shots were due...
Oh, please give me Marv Albert and his ilk.

Our win over Louisville was impressive, but South Carolina's thumping of TCU
was equally impressive and makes their loss to UCLA look like an aberration.

I suspect that the road to a national championship will have to go through
South Carolina.

Still, beating ND in South Bend would be great payback for the embarrasing
beating we took from them at Gampel last year.

We are a different team. We have depth, we have 3 AA's who can get their own shot and finish. We are not fully healthy yet. Look how much better we are now that Azzi is back. As we grow and get healthy over the next few weeks I dont think there is a team that can keep up with us. NONE. Barring injuries and bogus fouls we should handle ND. SC I hope we are at full strength. Every team from here on out has to figure a way to slow UConn down and every team will have to play one on one defense against us. I believe were back.

Talk about getting it right, MSGRET.

ESPN is even worse. IMO there are no excellent play by play broadcasters on tv today. They all seem to readily veer off and start commenting on unrelated matters thinking the audience feels that is more important than calling the action on the floor.

Alan and Megan are pretty good. So are Rebecca and Ryan.

I one hundred percent concur with your opinion. It might be wishful thinking that maybe Rebecca and Ryan are announcing the game on Thursday.

Tony and Next 12. We don't get to number 1 until you combine us continuing to win AND UCLA loses. Of course it doesn't matter until April.

If you can't defend their guards they can give you problems. With UConn they have three players on the floor as good as any other three in the country, probably even better. The other two right now though can be exploited on the floor and that is what I expect ND to do to try to keep the game close.

Miles and Paige in my opinion are the two best players in this years draft class and I think both of them will put on a show for the fans. HH must be contained a little and that is the one spot I have doubts about with the current starting 5. I do think that KK has the quickness to stay with her and hopefully this game will be her time to shine.
