I'll be really curious to see what Katz writes about him next.
In Katz follow up analysis of the game he was completely professional, no signs of bitterness towards Boeheim at all. I've always found Katz to be a true professional who doesn't go out of his way to criticize or protect anyone. Unless he pleaded with ESPN management not to run with this, he deserves a lot better.

The bizarre thing is that Boeheim talked a lot and had a lot to say about the Bernie Fine investigation. Who is he kidding?

How this is not on the front page of the ESPN Mens BBall page is beyond me.

It's simple really.

With Wolf, you have a player who is the German version of Shaquille O'Neal. He's nationally known and projected as the #1 overall pick in the draft.

With Boeheim, who really knows about him outside of Syracuse?

Yeah, that's a bunch of BS. It would have come out by now. No way that stays quiet for a year and a half.

How did it botch it?
I don't think they botched it at all...the Chief of Police even said the original 2 were credible. The only way they botched it is by not reminding folks daily that Cuse had a child molestor on its bench.

Well, at least Yahoo! put it on the front page of their Men's BB page.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/jim-boeheim-refuses-answer-espn-reporter-calls-him-050330794--ncaab.html

Regardless of whether Boeheim's anger is justifiable or not, he was out of line in the way he spoke to Katz during Wednesday night's exchange.
First, a reporter's primary obligation is to be truthful, not loyal. Secondly, the entire exchange was better suited for a closed-doors meeting rather than a public press conference.

seriously? its pretty unanimous among every other media outlet that espn screwed up. schwarz jumped his gun in the initial report. one of the accusers admitted he made up his story and another told authorities to drop it. the feds investigated and didnt charge him with anything. regardless of what actually happened, espn definitely made mistakes

schwartz's original report had nothing about zach tomaselli who was the liar. His report was about Bobby Davis and Mike Lang who the chief of police admitted to being credible

Nobody ever says anything about Katz, dude is pretty much harmless and doesn't voice strong opinions either way, he's mostly an information guy.

Met him at Ramstein this year. He talked with us for a good long while before the game. This was before the ACC/Louisville thing, I asked him what would happen to UConn and he thought a program like UConn's was too good to be shoved into irrelevance or something like that.

What mistakes? I hope you didn't buy the story that Fine was railroaded. He wasn't.

You need to really get into the story, because you're basically saying the media didn't care. The Syracuse media did. There is damning evidence. But the statute of limitations is past. I'll say again: what mistakes did ESPN make? A lot of people came out afterward and accused ESPN of sullying a man's reputation. Meanwhile, the DA and Chief of Police said they had more than enough evidence to indict him but the SOL prevented them.

You are right. Syracuse fans complained about the ESPN coverage but they also ignore the damning phone call evidence and just say that the victims were "obviously lying" as their main supporting argument. The third purported victim is obviously lying because his story changed back and forth but it is still not clear which portions of his story are the lies.
After hearing the phone call between Davis and Mrs. Fine, it was clear to me that the abuse of Davis definitely occurred which is supported by the Police Chief's statement. If this is true, it means that JB's #1 assistant was sexually abusing at least one of the ball boys from the Syracuse team (whom should have been under JBs protection), including while in Syracuse rented hotel rooms on Syracuse funded basketball trips and the abuse mostly occurred in the house directly NEXT door to JB's house. So, Syracuse hires a law firm several years ago when the statute of limitations was still in effect and the end result is that they find no supporting evidence but more importantly, the story never reaches national media at that time. JB then keeps Bernie Fine on his bench and then when the story comes out, JB lambasts the victim in the press, which was fine and dandy with Syracuse until the phone conversation with Mrs. fine comes to light and JB is forced to make a terse apology and Fine is quickly fired (which certainly showed that even the Syracuse administration knew Fine was guilty.
So, MSGordon, how exactly do you think ESPN somehow wronged Syracuse in this disgusting mess?
I had a ton of respect for JB and I used to cheer for Syracuse before this disgusting crap came to light.
