If any if this is true about us having a half a billion in endowment $$$ then what the heck are we doing by not properly supporting our football team from a financial standpoint (i.e. paying coaches that are a little more proven to get things turned around sooner than later)? Doesn't make sense if that funding is there.
The overwhelming majority of a university’s endowment is not liquid and most of it’s use is restricted... i.e. $190m of the number quoted is restricted to scholarships for example.

That's true. But if we got a coach and assistant coaches who could turn the FB program around, think how much the endowment would increase from even smaller donations from alumni who would like to see UConn ranked in top 20 or so and winning bowl games. Think about the money generated by selling out the Rent for every home game. Think about the money if we someday we join the ACC.

These coaches will not come here if they are going to take a major pay cut. We have tried paying our FB coaches on the lowest level of FBS. It has led us, in part, to being at the bottom of the FBS rankings. Now let's try to get top coaches and pay them fairly.

If the Athletic Department wants to increase Coach and Assistant Coach salary pools they need to find a few sugar daddies/mommies to donate the money to the Foundation earmarked for that purpose (or direct to the Athletic Department) or increase Department/program revenue to pay the bill. It’s not coming from the University endowment - especially in the current fiscal environment.

The BIGGEST/DUMBEST mistake was the Disco hire... AWFUL.... AND we paid him all that $$$ to go away.... YET, we still have the capital to build something here? Sounds like the conservatives are running things ol skool (like clockwork)... CT conservatives penny pinch when things look bleak... This goes back to the days when Edsall first got here and we had Hathaway... Can't be scared to spend. Scared $$$ don't make $$$.. not when you're at this level of CFB...
And, I'll say this part one last time, alls we need is CONSISTENCY.. We don't need a National Championship right now, we need a consistent team that grows (which was happening just as Edsall left the first time)... Get us bowling year in and year out... woulda been enough at this level because it keeps/builds fans' interests.. Gives true HOPE to our program... We look unorganized to everybody right now... Not CT like....

UConn has about a half a billion dollars in its endowment.
And you want to spend it on a FB coach? I say no. People who say yes should pitch in.

A portion of that is Athletics and a portion of Athletics is football there is no need for people to pitch in again

->“Michigan and Jim Harbaugh are nearing what would be a five-year extension with a lower base salary but with heavy incentives,” the report said. “If the Wolverines were to reach certain championship benchmarks, he could recoup most of the $8 million he was set to make this season….The contract presented features heavy incentives for winning the Big Ten East Division, a Big Ten championship, reaching the national playoffs and winning a national championship. There also is a smaller buyout if UM decides to fire Harbaugh.”<-

Sorry, disco was 2d worse. P was worst. We were P6 coming off fiesta, loaded roster and in midst of acc buildup. In a year we were bowl ineligible, losing talent and an obvious pass to P5.
