Hawkins Starting

2/13 from 3 is hilarious.

Offense looked crisper when he came back in the game and Zion sat this last shift, though. He's out there moving. And he's one of the 3 guys on the team with a big positive +/-.
 
No way Zion can stay injury free playing at that weight. He is a terrific player but he has to be pushing 300llbs. He is huge.

Hawkins sits and Pelicans make a run and cut the lead from 11 to 3 (edit now 1). Hawk back in.
 
Hawk got cooked by Jalen Williams in that key spot. They should probably go offense/defense with him right now.
 
Zion just was no where to be found getting back down court in transition because he was arguing with the ref in a game they were up 2. Then just threw up a couple terrible drive/prayers. He's killing the team.

He's been wide open, he's moved the ball really well and gotten himself open the entire night. He's just bricking them. It stinks he was so off shooting because it should've been a 25 point night for him.

Really hope this doesn't go to overtime, it's awful basketball.

Tied for team lead in minutes in a win - way to go Hawk! That’s a bad loss for the Thunder though … had a 22pt lead at home. Holmgren, Giddey, SGA … yikes.

It’s great he was doing all the other impactful things he could with his minutes. But I stand by any player shooting that poorly for a game should stop shooting, unless the shot clock is expiring. Guess that’s just me.

If they don't shoot they don't get guarded, and if they don't get guarded they gum up the offense far worse than a missed shot. This isn't hard. The shots are going to start falling, but only if he shoots open looks.

I saw 3 highlights in which OKC was scoring the ball and Zion was lucky to be over half court. He’s very overrated I’m afraid even when healthy. Talented but not a player that will ever impact a championship team.

Exactly, especially in games where they're missing 4 of their top 6-7 guys. Let your lotto pick figure it out.

True, also true that BE teams gummed up UConn's offense last year by making AJ shoot wide open 3's. Basketball is fluid and the basketball gods credo is that a bad shot or badly missed shot turns into points for the other team.

Certainly if you are missing open 3pt jump shots there's an argument to drive into space, get closer looks or get to the line. Sometimes its just not your night. Definitely there's a trend over past few yrs of NBA teams shooting awful from 3 for a game and this becomes an insanely accurate predictor of W or L. However for the Pels it is not about W or L so the argument for him to keep shooting has some merit too.
 
He was missing wide open threes. He going to have to start making them regardless of is +/_.
