With the NBA draft, the first round is really all that matters because thats where 90% of the talent goes. Sure there have been steals in the early-mid second round but there really isnt much difference between the 57th pick and an undrafted camp invite.

I'm really surprised CJ Leslie didn't get drafted. He was a consensus top 15 pick if he came out last year. Another bang up job by Gottfried at developing talent. The best thing Purvis ever did was get out of that program before it was too late.

Jeff Adrien was twice the player......sorry not close!

Not saying AO was half the player Jeff was. Jeff is my favorite Husky of all time.

Just saying AO had streaks of games where he played like Jeff and it made you wonder why he couldn't pull it all together.

As I posted elsewhere, these two tweets pretty much sum it up.

yeesh, that's harsh from DeCourcy, I don't really care about AO but its pretty much an irrelevant pick, doesn't really seem necessary.

Penders is a UConn insider? Since when? I never heard of that before. Yes, I know he played there a half-century ago.

I guess he knows what he's talking about!! ;)

Hope he gets cut before the season starts. Chances thatll happen?

That's what you hope? For a guy who helped win an NC for you? Made the all Final Four team.
I don't hate AO. I don't even dislike him. But he did quit the team, essentially. I get why he did it.
But he did it. And that means I can't really root for him. Sorry.

He thinks the team quit on him first. He had to leave. It was the right choice for both parties. UConn had one less distraction and had a good year. AO got drafted, something I'm pretty sure wouldn't have happened if he stayed here. It was a win-win.

Yes he's so soft he won an NC and was an NBA draft pick. He's the softest. Ruslan Inyatkin can sleep well tonight.
My opinion of him being soft is not relating to his ability to play the game of basketball. Its a description of his mental toughness which is on par with that of an 11 year old girl.

Yeah, but a UConn insider trashing a guy that won UConn a title? I don't remember Penders winning anything or being drafted. If he wants to be that petty, I guess that's his right. But was wrong to do it calling himself a "UConn insider."

Y'know the more I think about this the more mad I get. I honestly think this needs to be addressed. Penders should walk back the insiders remark and say he was speaking for himself.

I agree on that subject. I doubt he has much insider knowledge from KO or JC ..........

At any given point there are 400-450 players in the NBA. As number 57 taken he has a chance of hanging on, but with his skills actually carving out an NBA carreer? Please.

At this point, I just don't really care anymore. Good for him getting drafted and I hope he can stick on as a bench player. That being said, I don't think it's in his cards. He's not skilled or athletic enough to contribute at his size, though you never know if he'll put it all together in the pros. And if he doesn't make it, I'm not going to feel too bad because he'll make a perfectly respectable salary overseas somewhere.

I hope he does well and thank him for his part in the NC. End of story.

Wish him no ill will but I don't like him. I think it's beautiful poetic justice that he was upset about Drummond getting his minutes/touches/hand jobs/whatever and he had beef with Calhoun. Then after he transfers, Drummond goes to the draft and Calhoun retires.

If he left after the title run he probably could have gone higher, but in reality he's an undersized 4 in the NBA with no real skill set and no drive to make up for his like of height/ability.

I really don't have the energy to get worked up one way or another about AO anymore. Something like 50% of the anger from UConn fans was from AO, 50% caused or exacerbated by his dad. That's in the past now.
