Sorry to say it but Ball is going to continue to eat up Diarra’s minutes. He didn’t play well today, was out of control and took a couple wild shots. His defense also wasn’t as good as it was last year.

I want to own up to this post. Kid played with that dog in him tonight and deserves some major props for his effort on both ends of the floor.

He played well. Like his toughness. Getting to the rim and making them this year.

His three point shooting is also a bit skewed because he takes a lot of bailout shots. I know at least two of the three today were and perhaps the third.

He will be important all season, especially in the Tourney. He has pose the freshmen can have at this point.

They’re going to need his defensive intensity as it looks like we won’t be as strong in that area as years past. Probably why Dan Hurley has been talking so much about scoring

That was as confident as I’ve ever seen him on the offensive end and his D was nothing short of demoralizing for Texas during stretches. We need to see this consistently out of him. He’s had flashes in the past of offensive skills and then will look a bit lost the next game, but the Diarra we saw tonight is an absolute menace.

He is just playing a lot smarter with the ball, Makes FT shots and plays great defense at all times. He reminds me of a lesser Taliek Brown overall but more athletic.
Funny part is that last year when somebody asked if he reminded anybody of Taliek, I held back a bit (while others were unkind to the poster), before offering that they both are from Queens, which I'd intended for humor purposes only.

This is a fine, fun thread, well-enough introduced by the OP's admirable mea culpa.

These games are tailored made for him. Texas was relentless and physical and Diarra thrives.

Slow this down to a half court ge and walking the ball up the court and he is less effective.

Great game by him tonight.

One of them was tough enough that the ball hitting the rim was a win of sorts.

Taliek Brown is the all time leader in assists for UConn basketball. You just lost a ton of street credibility.

Yesterday was a mixed bag of good plays and bad. Today was ALL good. Exceptional game by Hassan; apex of his UConn career!

As long as Diarra stays away from shooting jumpers, he’s a huge positive on the court. Dude plays as hard as anyone and makes a difference on both sides of the ball. Was his best game as a Husky. Bravo!!!!
